I'm reading a Montessori book that makes a good argument for cloth diapers. Since I am planning on incorporating as much of Montessori's principals as possible, I'm finding myself considering them.
Up until now, I did not at all plan on cloth diapering our LO. I guess I am having trouble letting go of the convenience of disposable diapers lol. I am daunted by the idea of all the extra laundry, when I think I'm already putting a lot of expectation on myself for raising my LO.
I did some very introductory research last night on Google. I searched "Cloth Diapers Canada". It's important to me that I can buy diapers and supplies in Canada instead of having to worry about shipping from the States and duties over the border.
The more I research, the more I am confused. There are just SO many different options. Then on top of that it seems that some kinds need extra pieces, some don't, some grow with baby, some don't... It's another thing putting me off a bit because with disposables I'd just buy some brand, try them and then if I didn't like them just buy another next time. With cloth diapers there is a huge upfront commitment.
So far the brand that has been most appealing to me is gDiapers. I like that they have both cloth liners and disposable liners, so at least when I am out and about with baby I could just throw the liner away (they're apparently even flushable!). I also like that they have a website just for Canada and they are even sold in a brick and mortar store near me. I like how they have a "system" and all their products work together with no confusion. And the most silly reason I like them is I just plain like the way they look over other brands.
However, they seem to me that they are pretty expensive? The newborn starter kit doesn't seem so bad, but then buying medium, and large diapers and liners later is another big cost. Also their disposable liners are not cheap. That said, I don't think I like the idea of one size diapers (In my experience, "One size fits all" rarely works out well), so maybe this is just the way things are?
Sooo... this is very rambly, but I guess to sum it up, can anyone help make this seem just less daunting?
