I bought the smallest disposable swim diapers but they still won't stay up...I don't want my LO to have a poopy accident in my friend's pool next week! 
Have you ever used a regular cloth diaper as a swim diaper? BG 4.0 without any inserts? Grovia shell?

BG encourages the use of their shell as a swim diaper. We've done it but it hasn't been "tested" by my son yet. We also have an Applecheeks swim diaper though.

We use BG 4.0s without inserts as swim diapers. They work great. But they are really meant to catch poo ONLY...there's zero absorbency for pee, unlike a lot of disposable swim diapers that will catch a little bit.

There are also reusable swim diapers, they look like little speedos. Just like all swim diapers they are only meant to hold poo not pee. We got them from our swim school, but I know you can buy them online and I'm sure some stores.

We use the speedo style cloth swim diapers for swim lessons. We got them from our swim school, they are happy as long as solids are caught. I've also seen them at Buy Buy Baby.

This might be a dumb question but what happens when your LO pees in the pool?

yup I use a cloth diaper without the pocket for a swim diaper works great!

I have an actualy iPlay swim diaper, but in a pinch I have used the shells of our BG pocket diapers. That has worked pretty well for us.

@aprk: I think that is an accepted reality and that is what the chlorine is for!? Can any more experienced moms comment?

@sunny: even disposable swim diapers don't absorb pee; if they did they'd absorb the pool water and be a saggy, wet mess.

I have friends who HATE the speedo type ones because if they do poop you can't just unsnap it so you end up with poop all over baby's legs.

I believe they have the Charlie Banana swim diapers at most Targets (or at least they did a few weeks ago) they struck me as super tiny so they might do the trick but I don't know if they had snaps or just elastics.
