When you accidentally leave clothes in the wash overnight, what do you do?
Throw them in the dryer?
Or re-wash?
I'm re-washing the load I left in the machine.

Rewash cuz I think it smells. Hate when that happens.

It depends on if they smell good! If they do I hang them to dry like usual, otherwise I rewash.

depends if they smell. sometimes they are fine to toss in the dryer. sometimes they smell so then i do a short wash.

I'm with @Mrs. Bee, it depends on if they smell or not. If not, into the dryer they go. Usually it takes a full 24-48 hours for our clothes to start smelling in there.

I'd usually do a sniff test and throw in the dryer, but it was a load of LOs stuff--clothes and stuffed animals.

I do a sniff test, too. If it smells bad, I'll re-wash.

If it's been more than just overnight, I'll rewash. If it's just overnight, I don't rewash, just dry.

I always at least rinse & typically re-wash! I am guilty of this more times then I'd like to admit :X

I worked for a company that repaired washers and all I can say is over time can damager your washer especially if you have a more modern front loader, it causes build up inside the drum and for this reason when i had a washer I never left clothes inside. Now I use a shared laundry room in my apartment building so I never get the option to leave clothes in there over night.

A trick I learned (because I am always leaving clothes in the washer...our dryer sucks and takes forever)-if you throw some oxyclean in with your wash, you will never get that mildew smell if you leave them too long!

Dryer. I've never had a smell problem though... at least not that I noticed.

I'll do a short wash, especially if it's LO's laundry. What am I saying. I don't ever do the laundry! My DH took over that chore since we got married. But if I DID do the laundry, I would rewash.

I do this all the time with our laundry. Since I don't like to do laundry often (and we do RJ's laundry once a week) I often have four or five loads to do for our clothes and linens. It usually doesn't smell the next morning, and I'll run the rinse cycle one more time to just get a fresh water rinse through the clothes. If it smelled I'd just wash again.

I re-wash, I hate the dirty water smell and it never goes away unless I re-wash!

We don't usually have problems with smells unless we forget the laundry in the washer for a couple of days (which I know since I've done it a couple times on accident), so if it smells fine we'll throw it into the dryer.

I never leave the kids clothes sitting in the washer. With our clothes, I usually run the wash cycle right before bed and throw it in the dryer in the morning. Never experienced any odor.

@Mrsbells: that's interesting! what about a top loader? haha! I need to start setting a timer for my last loads of the day

I usually throw my clothes in the washer at night before bed, and then dry in the morning. I have never had any issues with smells!

Depends on the smell, usually overnight I"m okay with any longer than that I have to re-wash. Towels always seem to get smelly faster than clothes, that drives me bonkers. My DH is notorious of forgetting about a load of laundry!

If it smells = rewash. If it doesn't smell... put it in the dryer.

@sulli301: From what I remember the old top loaders arent as sensitive as front loaders, so you can get away with being rougher with them. but the new energy efficient front loaders can easily get a build up because they are designed to use less water, less heat and get through the cycle faster.

I rewash...Even though I have a newish toploader, I still find the short rewash doesn't cut it.

I don't have a sense of smell and I just put them in the dryer. I think if they still smelled my husband would notice and say something, but he never has.
honeydew / 7968 posts
depends. i do the smell test lol. if it passes, dryer. if not, rewash.

It depends on if fabric softener was used or not. If it was, I'll rewash because I think they smell. If it wasn't (and we don't usually use it these days since having DS) I may toss them in the dryer.

@chopsuey119: i re wash (or my husband does). Seems like they smell if we leave them more than 2 hours...
