If your LO is co sleeping with you and you get up first what do you do with LO?
I hate transferring her to the crib because sometimes it will wake her up, but I'm afraid of leaving her in the bed alone because she will crawl off the bed.

P has learned the boundaries of the bed so falling off doesn't happen much anymore. We have our mattress & box spring on the floor though so even if she does roll off its not really high enough to cause injury. Now that we have our sidecar setup I can usually roll (literally) P to her space & she'll continue sleeping (sometimes I'll pay her bottom before getting up for good measure, lol).

I put up barriers and I'm usually not far so that I can hear her. I was considering getting a bed rail. Her crib is pushed up against one side of the bed but she also pulls up and cruises along the side. Mobile babies are tricky.

We didn't use a monitor, so I would just have to check on her.
@bunnylove08: How high is your bed? Once LO started crawling we started teaching her how to back off the bed. We would flip her over and back her off the bed every time and eventually she got it (I would say between 10/11 months), but of course this only works if the bed is not too high.

@mrsjazz: unfortunately our bed is pretty high, maybe about 2.5 ft from the floor.
I've tried pillow and blanket barriers but she can climb over them and I was thinking of a bed rail but she likes to stand and look over and jump up and down and I'm afraid shes going to fall over.

Fortunately (??) my baby is the type to cry as soon as she wakes up alone. She does this before trying to creep away. So in the mornings I am just extra careful to keep an ear on her and I run in as soon as she starts crying.
I'd say if she's big enough to pull up and jump she's old enough to start to learn how to safely get off the bed... my husband taught our toddler (don't remember when exactly) how to turn around and slide off feet first.
You could also put the pillows etc. on the floor to cushion any falls....

@bunnylove08: our bed is about 2.5 feet off the floor - we have bedrails. when LO was little i used to transfer him to the crib, when he was waking during the transfer i started to shower and prep at night so that we could sleep till 6:45 and then get up together. now that LO is almost a year i get upat 6:15 and leave him in the bed. i was nervous at first but we have a small place so i just check on him every few minutes. when he starts stirring i go in.

@sloaneandpuffy: our DD is weird. Sometimes she will play and other times she will cry out when she realizes shes alone. haha i guess I can use a baby monitor. We haven't used on yet and when she makes a peep i can run to her.

I never wake up before LO haha, but we do take naps together and I will get up once she really falls asleep. I put big pillows around her, which she doesn't ever try to crawl over. I also have the video monitor always on and volume turned up high so I hear her as soon as she starts waking up (because she always fusses or cries when she finds herself alone).

My son learned very very early how to climb safely off the bed. So we just left him. Obviously I only have one and he was a monkey. But I am a huge proponent of teaching them how to do things safely.

We stopped co-sleeping when LO started rolling. DH complains that she is lonely in her own room, but I don't want to spend the whole evening protecting her from the edge of the bed.
