DH is in the market for a new laptop or desktop. He's researching, but I feel like tech changes so much with computers that it really doesn't matter... if he gets it for a decent price that we can afford and it has decent reviews; I'm okay with it (I have a MAC, he wants a PC).
Do you care about the latest and greatest computer?

I have to stick to my Macs. I never used to be an Apple "snob", but DH introduced me to them after I went through two Window laptops in the matter of 2 years. I've had my 2009 MacBook since winter 2010 and I have no complaints whatsoever! Wow, can't believe it'll be 3 years that I've had this and still runs as new! Haha. This is a major record for me.

He has the new 15" macbook pro with upgrades. You don't even wanna know how much it cost. -.-

I don't really care about the latest and greatest because I don't have the money to spend on that anyway, but I would like a new one. Mine is 3.5 years old.

i bought a mac in spring 10 and its still going strong! i love it to death. prior to that, like @babybear I went through a dell and an hp in 2 years!!

While I don't need a fancy computing device, DH is very particular about what he buys. He is a techie and keeps up with everything that is going on. Luckily he is reasonable and doesn't spend that much and keeps them for a long time. We love our Thinkspads!

I don't need the latest and greatest... all I want is the thinnest, fastest, most powerful laptop with the most amount of memory possible and won't die for at least a few years (My Macbook died a long slow death after only 2 years). That's what I have! (It's a PC.)

Windows computers work fine if you know how to take care of them. I have had mine for 5 years and it's going strong still.
I've had good luck with HP desktops. I picked a base model and then customized it on their website.

@sorrycharlie: Dell was one of the ones I went through too.
@zippylef: It wasn't the program itself. It was the makers of the laptops. I took very care of my laptops, but they seemed to just die or stop working. My first laptop just stopped working. The keyboard wouldn't work, etc. My Dell would randomly shut off and die.
