This is a totally random question, but for those of you that wear contact lenses, did you wear them during delivery? I never really thought about it, but is it discouraged at all?

I wear mine 24/7 a day, so I am hoping I will not have a problem wearing them during labor and birth and stuff.

I wore my glasses during labor! I usually wear contacts during the day and take them off when I sleep

I wore mine. No one cared and my eyeballs are still very much intact

I wore mine. I can't imagine switching to glasses for labour....it's like a major crazy workout and I would never workout with my glasses on. I was glad I just happened to have a really nice high ponytail in that day.

Wore my lenses (Canadian hosp) the whole time... Even into the ER for my emerg c-section. Not really sure if the nurses knew I was wearing them or not. Can't remember.

I did with both of my girls. They didn't really ask and I would have told them I didn't have my glasses with me if they did. I wear my contacts all the tme and it would be really uncomfortable for me to wear my glasses.

Wore my glasses with the first one and contacts for the second. Brought my glasses in case they asked me to take them out.

I usually wear contacts but wore my glasses for delivery. I brought my contacts to the hospital but never took them out. It was easier to wear them and not have to worry about taking care of contacts on top of everything else!

I wore contacts during labor and lived to tell the tale. It wasn't an issue, but I didn't have a c-section.
Good thing to put your glasses on your list of things to pack in your hospital bag just in case!!

I don't think I've worn my contacts at all since I've been pregnant, but then again I really only used to wear them in the weekend anyway (my vision it better with glasses than with contacts).
I'm not planning on wearing my contacts again till I go back to my optometrist for my checkup in December / January and I'll get my prescription re-assessed and filled.

I was wondering about this! I hate working out and getting sweaty in my glasses, so I'm hoping I can go the contact route.

I will probably have my glasses on...I hate sleeping in my contacts, and I don't want to have to think about taking them out if I need to close my eyes or something. I'll bring both, I guess!

I think I switched out of them before we went because it was 3 in the morning!

I wore mine, I went into labor in the evening and we went into the hospital around 2am. I wasn't thinking about my contacts at that point, and I don't think anyone even asked me if I had them in. I did bring my glasses with me and wore them part of the time I was in the hospital.

So glad I found this thread Looks like contacts are A-OK. My vision is REALLY bad and I don't like to wear my glasses...esp because we are planning a water birth, and I feel like glasses+hot water would not work out well!

i ended up wearing mine during delivery...and then forgot my glasses so i was blind for the two nights i stayed in the hospital. and then i found them in my purse when i was leaving the hospital.

I wear glasses, and I am totally drawing a blank as to whether or not I wore mine, and for how long. I'll have to ask my husband.

Why can't you wear contacts during a c-section? I wear mine 24-7 too, and don't even have glasses with anywhere near an updated rx. I wouldn't even think to bring them, and I'd be pretty pissed if someone made me take out my contacts, I'd be blind as a bat.

My sister in law was requested to wear glasses during labor. She asked why and I guess you can't have things like contacts in during a C-section because it's surgery... not sure how that works maybe in case you pass out and they might go behind your eyes? It's a good thing for her though because she ended up needing a C-section. Most of the time it's a precaution in case you need one.

I hate wearing my glasses, but I ended up with them during delivery. My labor was 48+ hours, so by the time the baby actually came my eyeballs would have died had I had my contacts in.

I wore my contacts and brought glasses... I was in labor for 26 hours and had them on the whole time. I pushed for two hours too~
Def wore glasses that night to sleep

I wore my glasses during labor and delivery. I haven't been wearing my contacts much, so it wasn't new at that point.

I wore mine, they didn't even ask. But then 12 hours later and I realized my eyes hurt so bad because they were still in, even after naps. So just remember to switch after to minimize discomfort
