I don't talk or text, but I do use my phone to surf the net. That said... I think I could live without it for a week pretty easily probably because I work from home.
Could you give up your phone? For how long? Are you a phone addict?

*stands up* Hi, I'm runsyellowlites and I am addicted to my phone.
I'm sure I could but I use my phone for EVERYTHING! I work with my mom so I am constantly texting, surfing the web, using my camera, and of course over-sharing my life through multiple social media networks.
1 day.... MAYBE! lol

I'm addicted, it's what I almost exclusively use up surf the net, email, text, take photos, take video, etc. so not sure how long I could go without.

My personal cell, I could go a week. My work cell, I wish I could go a week, but probably only a few hours.
Just don't take one of my laptops, kindle, smart tv, or any of my main internet devices!

Nope. It's sad really! I panic when I forget it at home. I use it for everything... calls, texts, music, GPS, internet, games, appointments, notes....

I don't have a data plan so my phone is used for just talk and text. I would only need it for people to contact me (ie. LO's daycare, my parents), but there have been days where no one calls or texts me. I suppose I can do a few without needing it!

I forget my phone all the time, so yes, I can go a day. I am sad though.

Can't live without it, unless maybe it's a day when I am in front of my computer the entire day.
nectarine / 2994 posts
I think I could do it, I just like the security of it rather then using it all the time, I mostly use it to check the time or take photos. I feel naked without it usually.

No. Don't ask me again!
Haha. I'm too addicted. mostly babyconnect, instagram, gtasks, netflix, spotify, and the news!

My phone was recently on its last leg. It would work for a day or two, and then be dead as a door nail whenever I really needed it. Of course that included when I was traveling by myself! I use my phone for calls/texts/frivolous internet stuff, but I also feel really unsafe when I don't have a working one!
ETA: I got a new phone after that!

If I have access to the Internet, I don't need my phone. I'm not attached to it but I use it mainly to take pics of LO.

I'll be going without this weekend! Were going camping, and while phones work and there's plenty of service it's my personal rule to go without. Last trip I actually forgot my charger so I was forced to go without it and I loved it..... But luckily dh uses his phone because my sil went into labor a few days before her planned csection.

We did it for a week when we were in Cuba. It was sooo weird being cut off from the internet world for that long!

Half a week. I hate talking on the phone. When it rings, it startles me and I NEVER answer for an unrecognized number.

I lived without it on safari because there was no reception!

We went on a cruise last year and I had no service for a week. I actually loved it.

No I love my phone and she loves me. Maybe I could go half a day but that's pushing it

can I just say how nice it is to be surrounded by fellow addicts *group hug*
I feel so guilty because of my addiction and I make a conscious effort to try and separate myself from my iPhone/Pad/Book...etc but you guys make it okay
I have been without it on trips but for some reason that is different (probably because of all of the other stimulus) but if I leave it home when I go shopping or out to meet someone I feel naked.
pomelo / 5469 posts
I use my iPad for browsing/email and Facebook for messaging. I rarely use my phone and don't look at it every day. I could go quite a while without it, I guess!

Total phone addict. I don't think I could do it unless my phone was taken away, lost, or hidden.
apricot / 280 posts
No way. I've even been known to get to work, realize I left it at home, then turn around to go back and get it (80 minute round trip).
grapefruit / 4681 posts
At one time I probably could have, but after having an iphone and using it for other things besides talking/texting I don't think I could. One of the most important things I use my phone for is tracking LO's growth. I check his growth chart almost daily and I would be bothered if I needed to reference it and it wasn't there.

I could probably go without it if I had to. It would be annoying commuting without it though!
DH and I like travelling internationally too so we can unconnect and not use our phones!
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
I've gone without it for a week but I missed it!
grapefruit / 4442 posts
i live without it all the time because I'm always misplacing it. My theory is if someone needs me they can call my work phone during work hours if an emergency or DH because we're always together during non work days. I know I'm terrible
watermelon / 14206 posts
yeah, I could...it's not a smartphone, though. And, I like being able to text with dh while he's at work, but I could deal without it, too.
However, I couldn't live without my laptop/kindle/computer. I need at least one of them to get by during the day, lol. It's often my only form of outside communication during the day! lol
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
I probably could. I only use it mainly to text the hubby throughout the day, and to browse FB if I'm bored waiting for my oil change or something. I'd definitely feel naked without, but I easily go without my phone during vacations.
nectarine / 2063 posts
We shut ours off for a week during our honeymoon. Only sent 3 txt to confirm we got there, when we left & that we made it home. Rest of the time it was off. Bugged me the first few hours but was fine after that. I'd be fine without one. I'd just have to have really good address book & day planner.
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
I could live without all the extra features, but I would really not be comfortable not at least having a phone so daycare could reach me if something happened to LO.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
HAHA this is funny, I was just serving on jury duty and we weren't allowed to have our phones for the entire time we were at the courthouse (any electronics) and we all felt so lost without our phones. I never thought of myself as dependent on it, but someone would ask a question and we would all be like "let me look it up" but realize we didn't have the device to do that!
honeydew / 7917 posts
I am addicted and wish I could go without it for more than a few hours. Since we don't have a home phone, I actually do need it for people to get in touch with me. I should just turn off data... that would help me ease into the transition of using it less often.
pomelo / 5321 posts
I'm a phone addict. I couldn't give it up! I use it for HBing in the mornings before DS goes down for his nap. We don't have a house phone so I really do need it!
apricot / 341 posts
I use my phone for everything, but I can probably be without it for a few days. My DH and I were in Jamaica for a week and had no access to our phone or internet for the entire time. It was tough in the beginning, but the vacation was much more relaxing. Although, coming home, we had a ton of emails to sift through.
