Do you have a crib mobile? Does your baby like it? What did you look for when choosing one? How ling did you use it?
I think C would like something to look at over her crib. I'd like to get something would like but also pretty 
And since I think you can only use it for not too long I'd like to not spend a whole lot. Recommendations?
I have that turtle that projects images on the ceiling and she likes that but you can't see it when it's not really dark.

I ended up buying one of the butterfly paper mobiles off etsy. It was not cheap, but it is beautiful and it is something I plan to have hanging in her room for years. It gives her something to look at now but will also work as decoration when she's older.

We bought one that you have to wind up that is very cute and our LO loves to look at it. But she gets upset when it stops spinning so I'd recommend getting one that has a battery. Although the ones with the batteries aren't as cute as the ones off of Etsy.

We got the Fisherprice projection mobile. we love it because it projects images on the canopy of the mobile and once LO is older we took off the mobile part and kept the projection and music box attached to her crib

We never used one in her crib but LO loves the one on her Fisher Price Swing.

This is what I would have done if I knew it was possible. Get a mobile that doesn't attach to the crib (one with just a string to attach it to the ceiling). Then get a mobile arm (http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/mobile-arm/?pkey=e%7Cmobile%2Barm%7C1%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C1&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_-NoMerchRules-_-) so you can put the mobile over the crib. When LO outgrows having the mobile over the crib (which happened pretty quickly), you can move the mobile to above the changing table, where it can stay for a long time.

@Beehive: Do you know if there is such a thing as a mobile arm that will spin the mobile over the crib, but still allow the decoration part to be removed and placed over the changing table? I like that idea a lot but not sure where to get the supplies!

L is totally in love with his mobile! I almost bought a super pretty one off Etsy that I loved the look of but didn't move, and thank goodness I didn't because he squeals with delight and bats his arms and kicks his legs as soon as it starts playing the music and spinning. When we were spending the gift cards we got at our shower we saw BRU had gotten a new Monsters Inc line of nursery stuff in which matches his room perfectly, so we kind of bought it on a whim, and I'm so glad we did!

@wonderstruck: Yeah I've seen such beautiful ones that don't move, but I think I will sacrifice what I think is pretty for something that she will like better (hopefully).

@Foodnerd81: Hmmm, I haven't seen that... I guess that is the drawback of my idea, the mobile wouldn't rotate! Unless you search for "mobile arm" and see some with motors (would be a good thing to invent!).

I ordered our mobile from Etsy. It's just attached to a hook in the ceiling with fishing line. I didn't get one with music, because I've read that a lot of times the music runs out too quickly. I figured we'd play white noise/lullabies separately.

@Pepper: Oh that's so pretty!
Now I'm thinking maybe I should get a really pretty light weight one to hang over the changing pad, from the ceiling, and a cheap, less pretty but more entertaining one to put over the crib since we won't use that for too long anyway. So instead of buying one thing...
