I've only used progesterone capsules before - the ones that look like jelly beans. My RE prescribed me Crinone this time. Any idea when it's best used - morning or night? Should I wear a panty liner for leakage like with the capsules?

@LindsayInNY: I was prescribed crinone but didn't take it, as it wasn't covered by insurance and something like $22/ea!!
I was told to take it before bed & wear a pad.

@LindsayInNY: i am currently on crinone 8% suppositories! at first I was taking them at night to reduce leakage- however, my RE said it is better absorbed throughout the day rather than me sleeping 8 hours with it stagnant. I put it in before work and lay in bed for 15-20 mins, put on a pad and feel some leakage throughout the day!
Ps- totally gross but necessary- after 2 days or so, make sure to use your fingers to scoop out the old stuff. It literally clots up like cottage cheese. Gag!
Let me know how it goes !

Take it at night. I needed a regular pad, not just a liner. My doctor told me to take it at night. I got it from my OB. My RE prefers Endometrin and so do I after using both.

My RE preferred to I use it in the morning for better absorption throughout the day. I didn't need a pantyliner or anything. It didn't really leak if you aim it high enough. Just make sure to do finger swipe to clean out the inert material that accumulates in the vagina. I did that in the shower every night, it gets sort of like gunky build up. Good luck!

I took it in the morning, and def wear a linner, it leaks a lot but RE assured me ita sticky stuff and will absorb

@mrs bunchy: @shortcake: @FaithFertility: OMG you guys weren't lying about the "cleaning up" part!!! Ick!! I can't even post my real thoughts because they are WAY too TMI, even for HB!!!!

@LindsayInNY: I completely understand I have no reason why they don't ever tell you that in the office because it gets pretty gross

@FaithFertility: I didn't think there would be anything after 2 days of use and stuck my finger up there in the shower (how graphic...). I could not believe what came out! It was so gross! What if we BD?! Does it just get jammed up there?!?

@LindsayInNY: I know its a mess, we BDed and can't say it didn't show....lol def ummm stuck to DH too......

@FaithFertility: Oh geez, good to know if BD happens! I feel like I need a massive Q-tip to help get it out...

This is a silly question... I used these Crinone applicator thingys the first two IUIs (the plunger ones):
The RE gave me samples the other day and they look like this (no plunger):
How do I use them??

i took it at night i believe. the leaking was reallllly clumpy like cottage cheese. a pantyliner might not be able to handle it!

@Mrs. Bee: I was taking the plunger type in the morning since I was told it absorbed better that way? It wasn't as bad leak-wise as the yellow jelly bean type capsules. But this kind (same brand just a different version or manufacturer?) doesn't have a plunger so I don't even know how to get it in me! This probably seems more complicated than it actually is...

@LindsayInNY: you twist off the top (thing with a hole on the right), put that side in, and squeeze the little pouch on the left. I had that kind the first time around, and the plunger the second time. I liked the plunger better

@LindsayInNY: i used the plunger variety so no idea.
ps - i used another type of progesterone and had a miscarriage, but ended up carrying Charlie full term with crionine. don't if that made a difference, but maybe it did!

@Shutterbug: The pouch thing almost looks like it's an air thing that shoots it in you? Gross. If I knew it was different, I might have passed on their samples, LOL! Maybe it'll mean less to clean out of me?!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@LindsayInNY: Yes, it does pop/shoot it in you. ......... gross, I too always had the plunger, I took it in the a.m. with a panty longer
Prayers

@LindsayInNY: My RE gave me samples, albeit I have a plunger so I can't help you there! She did however say do not take it at night. You take it in the morning so it is absorbed while you're up moving around. I would just shoot it in there for lack of better advice. Good luck.

@LindsayInNY: those are the ones I used. The air pouch. I made sure to really shake the medicine down into the applicator tip. Sort of like the old school Mercury thermometers.
My doc also recommended AM insertion because it absorbs better with movement and body heat.
A liner was always. Enough protection for me. Just had to change it once or twice a day.
