I would like other people's opinions on this situation! My niece turned one on Saturday and to commemorate my sister thought it was appropriate to post her birth story in 4 parts as her status on Facebook through the day...including all the nitty gritty details. I thought it was completely innappropiate as she is friends with everyone she has ever met not just family/close friends. Am I being a stick in the mud or would this weird you out too?

Yup, that's weird. Blog appropriate-- absolutely. Message board site like this-- sure. But facebook, no. And I'm not even squeamish-- I love reading birth stories. But I'm 100% sure not everyone does.

I'm kinda in the camp of let people post what they want on FB and let them look like the silly ones for posting it. People can unsubscribe if they want. I agree though, out of line.

I agree. I generally will delete people if they are weirdly inappropriate on facebook but its hard with family.
I read an article in Real Simple about facebook once and it said if it's not something you'd tell Matt Lauer on the Today show, don't post it.

I am always amazed @ the things people post on facebook!! I usually just let them look silly & ignore it. I agree with you on this one though! And it makes it so much harder because it is a family member

She did call me that day and I commented how I though it was way too much info for FB, but she didn't seem to care.

It's TMI but I'm in the camp of don't like it, don't read it. I go on FB once in a while and read very little of what people post.

I deleted someone recently who insisted on posting status updates all day long like this. "This time last year, I was 10 cm, legs up and waiting for the doctor to start pushing!"

I cant deal with people that dont know what to post where. Facebook is not the right place for that, especially not as a status update
