Please tell me your best tips and advice for croup. Lo has it, but isn't bad enough for steroids, thank goodness. We made it through our first night, but it's so sad seeing her poor little self so sick. How long did your lo have it? How long when it was really bad? My mom is visiting, which is amazing because dh was working nights. We took shifts last night sitting up with her while she slept.

We had the croupy cough for just one night, but it was deemed bad enough for steroids (just one dose). After that she had cold-like symptoms for a week to 10 days. We got the humidifier going, used Vicks Baby Rub, took her outside in the cold air, and sat with her in the bathroom with the shower going. Hang in there!

Chloe had it this fall. She did need steroids. I think day 3 was the worst for us, and it was absolutely worst at night.
Cool mist humidifier helped.
So did a blast of cold air -- our ped said to take her outside at night so we bundled her up & let her outside for a few moments before bed. -
Ugh. I'm sorry! Croup is the worst.
B had it earlier this year and, like your LO, didn't need steroids. The first 3 nights were definitely the worst and I spent all three nights on the couch with him sleeping upright on top of me. After that, I kept him in our room for another 3-4 days. Night time is definitely worse than day time.
Some things that helped us:
-Cold air. We would take him outside at night when he was having trouble breathing.
-Steamy shower multiple times a day
-Cool mist humidifier
-Vicks Baby Rub
-Vicks plug-ins
-Lots of salineAlso, we learned that we were over using the NoseFrida. Our ped told us to only suction him twice day. Any more than that can cause irritation and inflammation of the nasal passages which could make the congestion worse (and make it painful for baby).

^ That. We just had croup two weekends ago. Every time one of us showered, we brought her into the bathroom to hang out.
The cough appeared at 11pm or so on Thursday, and we did start steroids on Friday. She was totally better come Monday, and was barely bothered by it Sat/Sun. Sounds like we got off kind of easy, though, because our Ped warned us how bad it would get and E still STTN, but we kept a fan and humidifier running and dropped the temp in the house, too.
I also warmed her milk up for her b/c she wouldn't drink it room temp or cold.
