Who else gets veggies from a share?
Ours go bad sooo quickly if we don't use them within a day or two. I've tried wrapping paper towels then in plastic bags with holes cut, in our crisper and still no dice.
How do you prevent your veggies from going bad?
Anyone use those "green bags"??

I can't remember a lot of the specific tips, but I saw of really clever ideas on Americas Test Kitchen recently for keeping herbs and veggies fresh. You might check their website.

@regberadaisy: we do, and our veggies rarely go bad! I do trim the greens off of carrots/radishes/etc right away.
For herbs, we put them in a glass of water, wrap the tops in a paper towel, and cover the whole shebang with a plastic bag.

This is why I can not get a share, I don't know how I would reasonably use the produce.
eta: my dad has a small garden, he'd also be crushed if I got a CSA and didn't use the veggies from his garden!

wow that's so weird! ours used to last a month.
We had to wrap most of them in plastic and put them in the fridge. Our CSA always emailed detailed instructions on how to keep the veggies fresh.
They also picked either the day of or day before so everything was very fresh.
I would suggest emailing them and asking what you can do to make them last longer!
btw we get our first CSA delivery tomorrow!!

@dagret: yup, my CIL told me about that tip and it's helped with the root vegetables. And herbs are not an issue. It's the greens! What do you do with greens? Do you have your crisper on high or low humidity?
@looch: we just have to get better about meal planning around the share. But it's hard when the list doesn't come out till Tuesday!

Our farm picks morning of or day before as well. It's actually really common; I asked my CIL who has the CNG farm.

@regberadaisy: ugh greens! Soo hard to eat them all. We must have crazy fresh greens though because they NEVER have gone bad. Okay maybe 1 bag the entire year we've had our CSA. I just throw them in the drawer or keep them in a pillowcase (which is what they recommend for leeks and Brussels sprouts. I'm lazy plus it helps keep dirt out of the drawers.)
Our CSA did put in their newsletter that you can wilt salad greens just like any other greens. I never thought of that before.
