When did your LO use a cup exclusively without lids? My 3 year old uses cups without lids sometimes but a good portion of the time she uses straw cups. I'm wondering when they start to use cups without lids more. I use a water bottle with a straw so I imagine my kids will always have a cup of that sort.

Mine recently made the switch. She'll be 3 in a month. She uses a straw cup at restaurants, just in case.

straws over here. I have two of the training type ones (oxo and piyo piyo) but she prefers straws. honestly - so do I! lol I drink way more when I use a straw over a cup.

She has been using open cups for a very long time. Definitely before 2. Although now with the baby around I tend to give her liquids in a straw cups because otherwise the baby grabs it and spills it.

He has been using regular cups since around 3. He has a water bottle that he uses too.

We started using open cups at mealtimes, when they are seated, before age 2. Otherwise we use take and toss straw cups or water bottles around the house/outside the house.

At the table, open cups starting around 2. Straw cups for on the go.

It was before DS was 2 that he was regularly drinking from a cup without a lid or straw. Once in a while, he will ask for a straw or his munchkin 360, but that's usually when we are on the go or he's walking around while drinking.

Probably around 2? Started with plastic ones, but now he uses a small rocks glass (only at home, and it has to stay at the table, even when we have a pizza picnic in the living room). When we eat out we usually get a straw cup, though.

At 2 she can use cups without lids but we are use ALOT of her sippy cups out of convenience and habbit. Esp when its anything but water.

They have been able to use cups w/o lids since about 18 months, but I still use lids or straw cups if we're in the car or at a restaurant

DS is 2.5 and still using straw cups because I'm lazy to clean up spills and change his clothes frequently.

2.5 and we almost exclusively use open cups at home. Straw cup out of the house and for smoothies

Open cups at home from early on, on the go and at school we still use thermos and contigo type cups.

@iluvboba637: that was us! I just didn't want to deal with the mess. We used straw cups for a long time. By three he had better coordination and we didn't have many spills once I finally made the switch.

DS was done with straw cups by about 16 months. DD is almost 22 months and drinks her big bottles of milk out of a straw cup, but water goes into an open cup. I don't let my kids walk around the house with open cups though, if they want to drink water, they have to sit at the table.
