@plaidpants: They might not even know! One of my friends found out her daycare had a public FB page when a mutual friend tagged her in a pic of her LO... and she about lost her mind. Nope, you are most certainly not the only one

You would, presumably, have to sign a waiver saying that you give permission for them to use your LO's photo. If you don't sign it, they shouldn't be able to post pictures of her. I work in education, and we ask our parents to do this. If we don't have explicit permission, we won't post any photos of their kids on FB, our web page, etc.

I'd be really surprised if you're the only parent there with these concerns. It's definitely worth bringing up when you visit.

Our daycare has a facebook page and I actually really like it. It's great getting to see pictures of my LO during the day. It's not like they tag your kid in the picture, so I don't think it's a big deal. But I'm sure you can ask them not to take pictures of your child.

This has weirded me out too, but I think it is really common. I would just ask if the parents sign forms permitting pictures of their kids to be posted publicly. If so, I don't have a problem with it. You can just decline to give permission for your LO, and hopefully there is a way for you to privately receive photos.

Our previous preschool had a private shutterfly website for parents. I loved it... Got email alerts when pics of her were uploaded. I could also order the pics! And it was private so no worries there.

Our current school does have a public FB page now and I follow it in FB. I've seen my kid in one picture.... they don't post much and usually don't post solos of the kids... It's usually a group picture and they are busy doing some kind of activity... and they don't tag parents, so I don't really mind.

@plaidpants: Oh, no way are you crazy! I would be pretty upset about that too. We already plan on keeping LO's picture off of FB as much as possible and using private photo sites, and it would make me uncomfortable for her picture to be everywhere! I definitely agree with the PP's that you can talk to the day care about the photo release that they have.

i wouldn't be comfortable with a public page and my LO's photo. i post tons of photos on my own page, but that's different.

That is crazy. What really bothers me is the safety concerns - any weirdo can look at it and take interest in a child and know where they child spends most of their day. I don't have a problem posting my kids picture online, but I do have a problem with people knowing where my kid lives/spends a lot of time.

@plaidpants: I dont have a little one and do not feel comfortable with the pics either. Even for the kids with parental consent I would want them photographed from behind. This post makes me realize FB-posting-parents may display my future kids' pics from parties and playdates

@lilteacherbee: My son's school did this...they have my written permission to post his face online.
