I nurse my daughter at least once a day (always before sleep time). She's gonna be 2 on the 27th! Do I go cold turkey on her? Let her keep nursing until she wants to stop?
What would you do..?

Does she seem ready to wean? Do you want to feed her past 2? I guess the thing is she'll see you nursing J and might make it tricky just to go cold turkey...

Do you want to let her self wean? If you don't want to keep nursing her then stopping cold turkey may be difficult with J still nursing. She may get jealous.

I plan to let P self wean (even if tandem nursing), but its really up to what you want to do. I would think with J nursing that it would be a lot more difficult since nursing will still be a big part of family life, & I've heard tandem nursing can diminish new sibling jealousy so that might arise too. Idk.... Maybe don't offer anymore? Just wait for her to ask... Or make it not so easy for her to nurse?

Totally up to you and what your body (and her, too) wants! But yeah, maybe don't offer and see if she asks? Two already!

If you are feeling ready to be done, "don't offer, don't refuse" would probably be a good first step. Basically always let her initiate, but if she does, don't turn her down. If you are already doing this, you can move to gently trying to offer alternatives. Try offering her a cup, or distracting her. Don't push too hard; I would say generally if she seems too upset or overwhelmed you might be moving a little fast. "Cold turkey" is generally hard on everyone (but there are some kids who respond well. You know your daughter; go with your gut.). If you're considering letting her self-wean, you may want to read up on it a little more and talk to other moms who have gone that route. Remember nothing is set in stone. If you decide to let her self-wean and then re-think things in six months you can change your mind. I would just encourage you to listen to your daughter, listen to your own heart and you will undoubtedly do what's best.
