Hi ladies, I made a couple more of these dresses for sale after everyone loved them on DD. I want to list them for sale on etsy, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what a good price point would be.
So here's my question, how much would you be willing to pay for this dress?
P.S-Each 100% cotton dress is fully lined.

My immediate thought was $30...so I was surprised to see that it was your highest option!

I said $20 because my daughter is in a growth spurt so I'm being cheap lol, but the quality looks amazing!!

I mean, really, a dress like that at Gap would probably be $30, easy. For a hand-made dress, you could easily charge at least that!

They are beautiful! I think $30 is a very fair price assuming you actually get paid for your time at that price!

@MaryM: I've had all the materials lying around for a long time, so I really can't estimate exactly how much it cost to make. But it took me about an hour or so to make each dress.

@Apex: I asked because I had a friend recently give up on etsy because she wasn't charging enough and it wasn't worth her time at all!
I think people would pay $30, easily.

I think something like 26.99 would be a good price. Low enough to sell but high enough to signify quality work and increase the likelihood of you getting more business. You should probably look for new materials and price out what it would cost you to make more dresses so that you end up with a price point that you are able to sustain in the future if business takes off.

@Apex: I recommend looking at what similar items are selling for, and making sure you're also factoring in your time spent.
For instance, and I haven't researched at all, let's say most handmade dresses sell on etsy for $15. You would have a hard time selling for $30!
But, let's say most dresses sell for $30, and everyone here thinks you should list for $15. Now you're under charging!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I actually looked at some hand made dresses on etsy, and similar pieces are selling at higher, exorbitant prices that I certainly won't pay for. But then again like you mentioned, I don't want to underpriced them.

@plantains: You make a good point. DH wants me to price them low enough to sell immediately because it's a new shop, but low prices always seem to connote low quality in most people's minds.

I love them! I hope you make a go of this so I can buy some when LO is here and big enough! I would definitely consider $30 reasonable.
Also, something I've found with selling on Etsy, people will pay more if you offer free shipping. And they'll choose you over a competitor of you offer free shipping and they don't. Those shouldn't be much at all to ship anyway, so it's worth it in my experience!

I'd pay $35 with free shipping. And I would probably pay another $5-8 for a matching headband or bow that you could make from the fabric scraps.

@mrs.shinerbock: You make a good point with the headband idea. I thought about those and maybe a diaper, but I was being lazy. I might make the headbands tho....I'll probably DH to help me cut them.

I think the dresses are lovely and I would certainly pay $30. Too bad I'm a boy mama. I'd love to see what boy items you come up with.
I agree that don't go too cheap because I also associate that with lower quality. There is one local etsy shop that makes the cutest dresses/rompers that I just adore. For reference, she charges $30-$45 and I believe has a 4 week wait time.

@Apex: I was going to mention a diaper cover as well because I really dislike dresses without them, but I know some people don't care.

@Apex: your dresses are beautiful! Even though from a store like gap I wouldn't usually pay more than $20, I would definitely spend more for handmade. I think $30 is certainly reasonable, especially if it covers your material and labor.

Just from a marketing perspective, I would charge an even amount, like $30, not 29.99. I would totally spend $30 on a special occasion dress.
