Anyone else use a brushing technique on your LO? The PT wants us to do it 3 times a day.

Brushing is a very specific sensory intervention that requires some training...did she show you what to do and provide you with a brush?
Were there other proprioceptive activities she recommended? What exactly is it for?

@Sammyfab: the pt gave us a little brush and a fact sheet about brushing the joint areas. She says she go over it again next week.

Interesting! I've never worked with a PT who has recommended brushing. Is it to increase body awareness?
As an OT, I've only ever recommended things like brushing, joint compressions and massage / deep pressure as a calming intervention for kids who are sensory-seeking. You have my curiosity piqued now!
ETA: I would also recommend these interventions for kids who are the opposite - low registration who require higher levels of sensory input!

A blog I read about a family with an autistic child with SPD does it, and says it's great. http://www.ourlittleacorn.com/

@Sammyfab: our PT says LO 2 (13 months) has every weak legs and the strength of a 7 month old. I think the brushing is to increase body awareness? I will definitely have more questions for her next week!
