Leaning towards getting one for #2 for convenience.
Have heard great things about the boka. Do you have one and do you like it?

We have a black backpack from EMS that we use as a diaper bag for LO#1. It didn't come with a changing pad (we acutally had an extra one) but we like it WAY better than my regular Kate Spade diaper bag (that was $$$)
Similar to this one:

I too have the ppb backpack and it's super convenient and big enough to fit everything you need

I'm looking at the Ju Ju Be BFF and Be Right Back. My friend has the Be Right Back, and it's definitely impressive with all it can hold. Since mine are going to be 3.5 years apart, I'm not sure I need that much space. I would love to see the BFF in person to decide!

I've used a standard backpack since my daughter turned 12m. A few weeks ago after much research and YouTube videos, I bought a Ju Ju Be Be Right Back. I'm due next month and my kids will be 16 months apart. I love it so far! There's so much room and it's super comfy. I love the pockets and that I can always find my keys. I highly suggest looking at videos on YouTube--tons of mamas share their packing tips. I also found a group on FB once I narrowed it down for the brand and got lots of helpful reviews.

I have been thinking about getting one and I think I'm going to go with the jujube bff. I like the fact that it converts, but still has real backpack straps.

I didnt know there was special diaper backpacks. Dh wants to get a backpack for LO's stuff and he's going to get a Herschel.

I just have a regular back pack that I use and I love it. It's good, cause DH and D feel ok carrying it, also. It also has tons of pockets and nooks for me to stash stuff.

I have a Danzo backpack and a regular backpack, I use the regular backpack much more, because I find it's easier to just put things in ziplock bags, rather than the teeny tiny pockets in the Danzo. The Danzo was a big disappointment. I might begin using it as my airplance carry on, we'll see.

Have you thought about just using something like the SkipHop diaper wallet so you can throw it into whatever bag you want? I find that system to be so much more versatile - for DH abc I - than having a designated diaper bag.

@septca: I'm just thinking with 2, I will want a backpack so as to have both hands free. I only have one diaper bag and it's pretty small so want to get a new one regardless

@emg86: Wow, that's an awesome backpack. DH complains that I overstuff his work one. This one may be what we need. Do you fit snacks and stuff in there too? Is it heavy when full?

@cascademom: Yep, I actually carry her snacks in little containers or use the matching lunch bag they carry--the Fuel Cell--and there's still plenty of room for stuff. Not heavy at all, the straps are super comfy cause they have padding all the way down the straps and so does the back. I have become obsessed with their stuff, it's durable and everything they carry is machine washable.

@winniebee: I'm looking at a Boken too. I'm between that and a Lily Jade Madeline. I like that the Boken is so light, but I don't know if I like how casual it is. Not that I'm always dressed up, but sometimes my yoga pant uniform need a little extra help

@Weagle: hahah exactly. The Ju Ju be seems nice and a little less casual but is double the price....

@winniebee: I wish there were more photos online of it, but I found this Skip Hop backpack and I think will work well for my boys: http://www.buybuybaby.com/store/product/skip-hop-reg-via-backpack-diaper-bag-in-black/1015142944

@winniebee: I like the idea of the JuJuBe, but I just really can't get into patterns. Actually, I've just fallen in love with the Madeline and I'm having a hard time finding anything else that comes close. It's just so much money!!!

This is also a contender. I have a friend with an older style Vera Bradley bag, and she loves it!

Anyone considering JuJuBe. I can't comment on their backpack, but I carried the messenger style bag for about 2.5 years and it's still in great shape. I finally got tired of it and went to a big purse. I have a PBB for #2. I really could use the JuJuBe again, but like @winniebee: I thought a backpack option would be better with two.

I ended up with the Boken, and I thought I'd give a little review since I've used it for a while.
Overall: A-
I love the size and weight. I'm not an overpacker, so there's always a bit of extra room, but it would be plenty big for me to use as, say, a carry on if we were traveling. There are lots of pockets outside which is nice. I wish the inside had more pockets. My zipper broke on my first one, but they quickly and easily replaced my bag. The price is nice.
(I found also that Patagonia has a bag that's very, very similar if you wanted to go that route.)
