We had two friends visit us in the hospital after LO was born....one drove 70 miles to see us and one worked at the hospital and dropped by after her shift!
Did any friends visit you at the hospital?

We had quite a few. One couple came down that night. The husband is an amateur photographer so he took some photos of LO for us. The next day we had people stopping by throughout the day. No one stayed for too long, thankfully.

Haven't been on that side of the birth, but we always drop by and see our friends when they've given birth. We come with flowers and food for the momma!

Nope. We were only in the hospital for 24 hours after LO was born. Our friends visited us at home in the week after LO was born.

Not there yet, but I know my BFF will visit. She wants to be in the delivery room with me if I'll let her, haha! Not sure if any of my other friends will show up or not - it will probably depend on how long my stay is.

Yes, I had several friends stop by. My boss at the time found out I was there before I even told her and she just popped in one day! Lol

Yes - we were there for 2 days and quite a few people dropped by. Most of our close friends are living all over the U.S. right now (NYC, Boston, etc), but it just so happened that my LO was born at the tail end of their winter holiday vacays... so it was perfect timing and I loved seeing all their loving/doting faces. However, it was pretty tiring having so many visitors, and we probably will wait til we're home to have visitors this time around.

I don't have kids, but I visited my friend after she had her 2nd babe! I was there for like.. 2 hours and no one else was there (not even her hubby) so I didn't want to leave her. She seemed lonely!

assuming i have a normal, vaginal birth, i want to be home pretty soon after i give birth and only have family visit at the hospital. i would rather friends visit at home.

Yes. The day after she was born, we were seeing visitors almost non-stop from 10 AM until about 9-10 PM. I was so exhausted. While it was exciting to have everyone visit, next time we'll probably wait for people to visit us at home.

Just a couple. I'd rather they visit at home maybe the second week... the early days are so hard with breast feeding, lack of sleep, etc.

Three friends visited with my first baby, none with my second but I preferred that because I wanted DS to visit more than anyone so he could get to know his sister.

Yes! I was only there for 24 hours after DS was born, but 5 of my best friends (and one's mom who worked at the hospital) came over to visit. I was soooo high on PP hormones I had a blast.
It's really interesting to tell the labor story for the first time (just a few hours after it's over) and to begin to formulate what happened.
BTW Hubby was slightly annoyed because they stayed for a few hours and HE wanted to sleep... lol!!!

No, we just had family visit the first day and Skyped with the rest of the family, I really wasn't up for more than that. At 1 day old he had to go under the bili lights in the NICU for a couple days, and I was very stressed about that and nursing. My hormones were all over the place at that point, I couldn't go an hour without crying, so I wouldn't have wanted to see anyone.

Yup, we had two sets of friends come visit us in the hospital. Other friends came once we were home and settled.

We had so many people come visit us - some friends who stayed briefly and I appreciated but some family came and stayed for hours and hours and hours. The tough thing was that my son was in the NICU and only four people could be back there so it was a constant struggle. After the whole thing and how annoyed I was I will never visit someone at the hospital ever again. My childless friends think I am totally rude for being annoyed by having so many people in and out visiting us but there is no way they can realize how stressful having a baby is. And I hope they NEVER have to realize how stressful it is to have a baby in the NICU so I don't really care what they think.

Just one that happened to be working at the hospital where DD was born. She got very upset with me because she works in the lab. Another baby with the same last name as us was born a few days before DD and she saw his test results. She thought I didn't tell her that I had given birth!
