If so, did you have a c-section? If you've had two+ LOs, was your subsequent birth asynclitic?

I did but I didn't realise it was called that until I googled it just now. I had a vaginal birth with a episiotomy. No #2 yet but it is my number one concern about another labour, making sure LO is in the correct position.

@grizz: My midwife didn't mention it happening again next birth and we did talk about next time. I found this post yesterday when I googled asynclitic and it says it's rare that it would happen again and there are women who have had 2+.

@AprilFool: I'd love to have a home birth for #2, but I'm scared of another asynclitic birth and having to be transferred to the hospital. Not only emotionally and physically, but financially. Our friend has the same insurance as us, and she got hit twice after she had to transfer to the hospital - they got billed 50% for the home birth, and then 100% for her c-section bc her insurance said they already paid for her birth. Yikes!

@grizz: Yikes!! That's such a low blow from the insurance company. I gave birth in a birth centre and will probably go back for #2. Is that an option? It has the feel of a home birth but I don't think you could be billed twice there? The other option would maybe be keeping an eye on position and transferring before you go into labour if things are looking bad. LO was in the correct position until 38 weeks and I could tell she had turned.
The idea of going through the same labour terrifies me but I did it once, I can do it again. Hopefully the next time will be easier since I had the hard birth the first time and this time I know what to expect or do differently.

@grizz: Would it be possible to pay for the home birth out of pocket and then be reimbursed by insurance? I've heard of people doing that, don't know if it works everywhere. That way in the case if transfer you'd only be stuck with a couple of thousand dollars out of pocket and insurance would pay the 20k c-section bill.
