From what I'm reading it seems that most of the grandparents-to-be purchase the crib for the baby!
Definitely not the case here! We bought ours.

I bought a vintage crib on craigslist for $20. My parents bought everything for my sister so I'm sure they would do the same for me when I get pregnant but I love my vintage mismatched style.

We will be buying ours. My parents can't afford a gift like that. The IL haven't offered to buy anything for us.

We bought ours. I wanted the Oeuf Sparrow and would never have asked my ILs or parents to spend that much. They offered, but I declined. I just had them help paint and install the accent wall in the nursery instead.

@Smurfette: same here! Although the crib we bought was only $200 so they might have had I asked but I wouldn't ask for something like that.

My mother has been hoarding a beautiful old antique crib for many years. I am sure it will be ours once we have a baby
Why else would she drag it around with her every time that she moves? Or maybe I am just wishfully thinking

my mom bought charlie's and i bought olive's. charlie's was more than 3x as much.

My IL's bought Ava's, but the next baby we will most likely be on our own, unless we just use the one we have, which is most likely going to be the case

@Mrs. Pen: I could never ask something like that either. We are hoping the IL's are getting us a bigger item off the registry for Christmas, just cause I have no clue what else they could be getting us. Step-MIL did ask where we were registered. But I am not holding my breathe. I know they are excited but they just don't seem like they are.

We bought all of the furniture - crib, rocker, dresser. They weren't cheap. Nobody offered to buy anything, but I didn't expect them to.

We bought ours. My mom helped out a ton by giving us clothes, toys, and other baby supplies. She owns a baby boutique but it's in a small town so she barely squeaks by, so it was so sweet of her to give us so much. My IL's on the other hand are very wealthy and they only gave the baby a knitted hat even though they don't really have any other grandchildren with the exception of my adult niece who is 24. They spend money like crazy on my husband for holidays so I was expecting they would do at least something for the baby.

I don't think anyone will buy us anything like that. We wont be having a shower or a registry (its not the norm here) so we expect to purchase everything for the baby.
People will probably just buy cute outfits for the baby after s/he has arrived. I certainly wouldn't think someone would buy us such a big gift!

We used credit card reward points to buy gift cards to purchase ours!

No, we bought ours just last weekend. We got an IKEA crib and neither of us felt comfortable asking anyone to go out of their way to IKEA to buy it!

@Smurfette: that was the same with my ILs. God love them, but when we told them we were pregnant, they just said, "oh that's cool. we figured." and then launched into this long lecture on how I better breastfeed or else lol... she did end up going in on our stroller with some of her family members so that was nice.

My parents might buy us the European co-sleeper we want, but if not we'll get it ourselves.
I don't expect anything from the IL's, they are not the generous type.

My IL's offered to buy us a crib with a more than generous budget. DH ended up finding an entire bedroom set (Crib, dresser/change table and nightstand) for the exact budget we were given used online so we jumped at that chance and they furnished her entire room.

LO is sleeping in the crib I used as a baby. For #2, we may get another one because it's kind of hard to get her in and out of the one we have now. It's a drop side that has been fixed.

I was always planning to buy ours, no one offered to buy it for us, that's for sure! But we were lucky to get a Thank You gift card for Amazon from my cousins and used it towards the crib & mattress (and paid the rest ourselves).

We bought ours. We couldn't register for it - it was from Ikea.

We bought it for our first and got a hand me down crib from a friend for the second. My husband did give them one of his bikes though so it was more of a trade.

we bought ours...we were offered one by a friend but it was drop-sided & missing the hardware. i just wasn't comfortable using it.

We purchased our crib & dresser, and my mom purchased our car seat which was as expensive! My in laws purchased the pack and play which was also super generous...

My parents have offered to buy a crib and we are very grateful for their generosity. They did the same for my sister.

We're planning on having to buy it on our own, but I'm guessing my parents will offer to buy a larger ticket item.

We plan on buying ours. My mother isn't in a position to really help us out, and DH will be handling how or if his family chooses to buy anything.

We bought ours. Luckily #2 will be using her old crib now that she's in a twin bed.
