We just trained last month and used both the ring and the potty. Ds is pretty flexible about What he uses and actually prefers the big potty for #2s.

We used the potty seat on the main potty. There was no way I was cleaning a stand alone potty. We made sure to get a good stool and it was fine!

We use the potty ring. I bought a stand alone seat when we first started but he had zero interest in it...he's all about being a big boy and using the big toilet, so we ran with it.

We are using the ring on the toilet. They use a small version of a regular toilet at day care so I think the same thing is helpful. She sat on the toilet last night without the ring. Now to get her to pee in it.

We use both but I find the ring harder to clean because it's 2 pieces and the pee gets trapped in between and makes a huge mess when you try to dump it. The standalone is pretty easy to clean. Just an FYI to make sure the ring you buy is one piece!

We only used the big potty when training. It went seamlessly! I had no desire to clean a little potty

I'm training DD1 on the big toilet with the ring on the seat because I don't have time to keep cleaning out the little potty with 2 under 2 at home.

We have both, but like the ring better. We have one at my parents' house too. I prefer it to cleaning out the standing potty.

We used a little potty, because we started EC around 6 months, and we needed something with a back.

Now that she's 15 months, she's using a toilet (with small seat) at school, and I want to transition her at home. I don't think she got "really good" at using her little potty, and it was once she started using the toilet at school that she was super consistent.

We're only doing the ring. No offense to anyone but the little potty thing grosses me out.

We used a ring. I was not excited about cleaning out a little potty. She's never even seen one, so she just understood that pee and poop go in the toilet. We had no issues using the ring.

we did both. I think it's totally doable to just use the ring. At daycare the toilets are pretty much regular toilets, anyway, just closer to the ground. They also sell those toilet seats that have both the adult ring and child ring, lol.

My son thinks the little toilet is a toy. He puts his trucks in it.

We only used a ring and DS was fine!
