Did anyone put their LO in a crib right away?

We did daytime naps in the crib and nighttime in the cosleeper next to our bed. At around 8wks we put DD down for a nap around 5pm and she slept for 8 or 10hrs straight. After that it was crib only.

Ours has been in his crib since the day we brought him home. Our townhouse is set up so that our two bedrooms are on the same floor and there's a tiny hallway that connects them, so I didn't feel far away from the nursery. It honestly wasn't a pain getting up in the middle of the night and I was fine watching him on the monitor. We had room in our bedroom to set up the pack n play but we decided to keep it on the first floor in our house for an extra changing station. Very happy that we did things this way - LO is a great sleeper and is very good at putting himself back to sleep if he wakes up during the night.

We started our LO in a crib half way through night one. We had planned on keeping him in our room in the pack n play, but OMG babies make soooooo much noise when they sleep. If I was going to get any sleep, I knew immediately, I needed to get him out of our room, into his nursery in the crib, and just use the monitor (which I eventually turned the sound off of - could hear him through the wall - crazy post-partum mommy-hearing!)

she's currently in the co-sleeper in bed with us and we all sleep better. she is 2.5 months and sleeps 8 hours, I sleep much better knowing I can easily see if she's okay. she also seems to have night terrors (as bizarre as that sounds) and it's much, much easier and faster to soothe her when I'm already next to her.

makes breastfeeding easier, too. we have a really awkward room though so there's nowhere safe for a pack and play because every wall has a baseboard heater...so it's going to have to go in the middle of the room when she's big enough for it.

I'd like to try the AAP 6 months thing, but at least a couple more. I'm just not ready!

@PrincessBaby: hahaha I did the same thing!

I was certain DS would sleep in his crib from day one but when he came home so small and with breastfeeding, it was just easier to have him sleep next to me in his Rock N Play. I slept on my stomach with one hand on his throughout the night. When he got bigger he would sleep next to me, he was nursing throughout the night. And around 4 months he did half the night in the crib and half the night in bed with me. We both just got more sleep that way. Around 9 months he started sleeping in his crib through the night and doesn't want to lay in bed with me at all, haha.. I miss those cosleeping nights now! and I NEVER thought I'd say that.

Question: for those of you whose LOs are in your room, do you change them in there too? That was one of the big reasons we moved him out as well--we change him in his room, so I was getting out of bed and leaving the room anyway. (sorry to threadjack!)

We put C in the crib at 2.5 weeks old. She slept in her Snugabunny bouncer for the first 2 weeks. At 2 weeks old, we started getting a 6ish hour stretch at night, so I figured why not.

I'm SO glad we did. I very seriously believe that we all sleep better with her in her room and us in ours.

We were going to have him sleep in his crib from the beginning, but decided at the last minute that it might be easier to have him in a bassinet in our room, so (at 2 months) he sleeps in the bassinet next to my side of the bed. I like that I can peek over the side of the bassinet during the night and see how he's doing. And in the morning, when he wakes up at 7 and I don't want to wake up yet, sometimes I can reach over and put his pacifier in (a few times) and he'll fall asleep again and give me an extra hour of sleep.

@hilsy85: We change the baby in our room overnight (I should say, my husband does). We lay out a bath towel on our bed and take a few diapers and the box of wipes into our room before we go to bed. Anything to make our lives easier at 5 or 6am!

We put DD in her crib from the moment she came home from the hospital because that's what made the most sense for us. Our apartment was not that big and her crib was set up in our bedroom, only a few feet from my side of the bed, so it was no different than if she was in a bassinet. I was able to see her through the crib slats at night and nighttime nursing/feeding was easy since I only needed to stumble a few feet from bed. She had trouble falling asleep from 2-6 weeks but now much prefers her bed than anyplace else. She hates stroller and car seat naps, though if she is tired enough she will eventually cry herself to sleep in either. I guess you win some you lose some. She may be tough when we go out but I can usually count on decent sleep if we are home.
