So far all the clothes I have bought for my baby are 3month, 3-6months or 6-9months. I havent bought a single piece of clothing in NB size. My mom told me that myself and my siblings never fit into newborn clothing and since I'm quite tall I am thinking I may have a long baby that will skip NB sizes. Is anyone else skipping NB sizes?

RJ was in newborn sizes until he hit the 3 month mark. He was always a high percentile in weight, but pretty average in height. I think he's dense... because he never really seemed that chubby when he was a newborn. I also don't like clothes swimming on babies so we kept him in sizes that fit him like a glove.

We thought our new baby would skip newborn sizes, since her birthparents are both quite tall... but she was just under 7 lbs and not too tall. We're glad we have newborn sizes and she even slept in premie pjs last night!

My baby was 8lbs, but we bought a couple of newborn outfits. Glad we didn't buy a lot. She grew out of them by the 1st month,

Even at 9 + lbs, my LO was in NB stuff for a little bit. I would suggest not going for anything cute or expensive, but just some footed sleepers and onesies.

Cam was very tall and skinny when born, and we definitely needed NB sizes for at least the first 5 weeks. It would be a good idea to have a few NB clothes on hand.
Target has really great sale racks, I got plenty of pieces for $2-3 each.

I didn't buy any but then found that I needed it. Luckily, I got NB hand me downs from my SIL. Maybe buy some cheap or used stuff?

DS wore NB for the first month or so, but he could have also gotten away with the 0-3 mo clothing. I am glad we had them though. Also those gowns (not sure if you have any of these) were AMAZING for the NB diaper changing every 5 minute stage. If I had to decide between the NB and the gowns I think I would go with the gowns, but that's just me.
Ditto @lemondrop. Target's sale section is awesome. Do you have a Carter's outlet near you? They have a great sale section too. Old Navy usually has some good deals and if you sign up for email offers they send you a $10 off $50 code that can be used in store or online.

We didn't have to buy nb clothes since so many people gifted them at the baby shower (they weren't on the registry). But she fit into nb sizes (not gerber nb size) for close to 3 months. Some of that was because alot were cute little dresses so they fit a little longer.

I didn't buy any clothes at all, since we got so many as gifts.
I also never wore NB clothes, but the weight is usually up to 10lbs, so for most babies, they should be able to wear them for a couple of weeks.

I personally didn't buy ANY clothes and my LO has a full closet. My sister gave me a lot of newborn onesies and shirts so I'll have those if I need them.

we didnt buy any newborn clothing and were gifted very few newborn onesies (but were too cold for LO to wear when he arrived). We had to swaddle him in blankets and DH had to go out and buy a pack of long sleeve shirts. I would suggest having a few pieces just in case cuz you never know if you'll need it.

We had some gifted to us. But she grew out of them quickly and we easily could have done without them.

We just used newborn pajamas, not outfits. I had 5 and that lasted me for about 5 weeks until my mom came with the "shipment" as we called it.

Yes I have bought most of my baby clothes from the target sales rack and from babies r us sales rack as well. I think for now I will stick to my 3month size clothes and see how it goes.

I haven't bought any - but I am assuming I will get a bunch for my baby shower. I have a bunch of 0-3 and 3-6 that I have picked up over the course of the pregnancy.

We didn't ever use NB clothes - we went straight into 0-3. LO would have fit in NB for a month or so, but 0-3 worked fine. They were a tad big for the first week, but she outgrew them by 2 months.

I definitely would invest in one or 2 NB outfits because even our 0-3 seems big on our NB whose only 12 days old. He isn't too small either around 7 lbs.

My daughter was almost 9 lbs and 22 inches long when she was born but still fit newborn clothes for the first two or three months so I will still buy newborn clothes for this one too.
