Just wondering... My midwife is going to sweep my membranes on Monday if I don't go into labor before that (doesn't seem like that's going to happen!!). Did sweeping your membranes help you go into labor? If so, how long did it take before contractions started?

had one at 39 weeks. lost my plug, but no labor signs.
another at 40 weeks. went into labor two days later.

Yes, but I was already 2 cm dilated when she did it. I had my appointment at 9am and started having contractions around 4pm the same day.

Yep! My contractions started almost instantly. But nothing crazy until after we bd to keep them going.

Yep! Second time sent me into labor at 38+6. I lost my mucus plug and had a lot of bleeding that continued til the next day. Contractions started that next day and LO was born that night.

no, but I was barely dilated a 1/2 cm....nothing worked

Yes, I had cramping off and on right away but went into labor the next day.

No? I had the sweep on a Friday morning, lost my mucus plug Sunday nigh, contractions started Tuesday morning and I had him on Wednesday afternoon. It didn't jump-start anything but maybe helped get me closer? I dunno.

Sort of. The first 2, no. The third one did put me into labor the day I was already scheduled to be induced, but it stalled after about 4 hours and I still had to have pitocin.

I am not sure if that is what did the trick. I had them swept at 38 +6 and nothing happened. Then had them done again at 39+6 and went into labour the next day when LO was due. I also did nipple stimulation that day and ate a whole pineapple, so not sure if I can attribute it all to the stretch and sweep.

Nope. I was 40 weeks when I had it done. Hurt like a bitch and I cramped and bled but did not go into labor.
I think she said if it's gonna work, it'll be within 24 hours!

I haven't had a baby yet but it didn't help my sister. She delivered 2 weeks after her membrane sweep.

Yes I had A within 2 days. I had a bloody show from when it was done until going into active labor.

Thanks ladies. Looks like it's about 50/50. I'll be 39+5, I'm really hoping it works for me! Never thought I'd get so anxious about this baby coming!!

Nope. Had stretch and sweeps at 41 weeks and 41+4. Ended up being induced at 42 weeks.

I had two membrane sweeps one at 39 weeks and another at 40 weeks. I had LO at 40+3

I was 40+1 and 1cm dilated when I had my membranes swept. My appt was around 10am and I felt mild contractions all day and really went into labor around 8pm.

Yes. I started having really mild contractions that day after the sweep. By the next night they were strong enough for me to go to the hospital. I was 7 cm dilated. The birth took a lot longer but that's a different story.

With my second I had at least 5 membrane sweeps between 35 and 39 weeks... I lost my plug and was almost 3 cm dilated for more than a week and we ended up having to induce. Stubborn girl!

Well, I can vote now. I got my membranes stripped at 1:30, and by 6:00 I was having regular contractions! 730 I was in the hospital, water broke by 8. Now resting with an epidural... So I think it jump started my labor!!
