Didn't change my vote either.
I felt like it wasn't much of a debate. Really open ended questions. I wish they would have spent less time on some of the subjects to get more topics in.

No.. no change here. I was happy that they were both civil - although I can't imagine interrupting an old man moderator so frequently (both of them). I wish they used some visual aids so it wasn't all back and forth of "no, that's not actually what I'll do" and they could draw or write or something what they *are* going to do (or are doing) and what that looks like. All the numbers thrown out and back and forth just aren't as accessible.

Not in a heartbeat. I wonder how many people's minds are actually changed by them - they seem so canned and unoriginal. On both sides, not just one candidate.

Nope, but there wasn't even a chance it would. I'm solidly partisan.
nectarine / 2019 posts
No stinking way! I don't think they every do in this situation. I am registered one way, but have voted outside of party lines, only when the the two candidates are both running for the first term.
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
No, but I was disappointed in my candidate. I'll still vote for the person who best represents my views, but I'm less likely to put his sticker on my car for now.

Nope. I dont think these debates so much change people's intentions as much as they sway the swing voters one way or another. It was one of the more civil ones Ive watched, but it seemed disorganized and just boring. I dont know.

Nope. I would think everyones mind is already made up by now. I feel like Obama really held back. Wonder why
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Nope! I agree it was a little boring and predictable.

Being Canadian, I have no vote, but hubs was watching part of it (he's a political junkie), and you should be proud of both candidates. I loved that they didn't interrupt eachother, you could hear what they were saying, they listened to Jim Lehrer. I loved it. Canadian debates have disintigrated into shouting matches, you can't hear what anyone says and I swear, the moderator is there just for show. So, I'd take boring, predictable, unoriginal, etc, over the gong-show that we have.

I'm still undecided, but it didn't help me much. Like you all said, so much is just canned responses it doesn't really help. I'm still leaning the same way I was earlier, but this didn't really push me either way.

No way. Although I wish my candidate had been more aggressive; at the end of the day my vote isn't about which candidate I prefer - it's the platforms and voting histories of the party as a whole that are most important as no matter what fluff a candidate might say, they need the full support of their party and will only get it if they don't stray too far from the established base.

No. My vote is also not going to be changed by endless FB postings either- someone needs to communicate this to my family members.

@Grace: they listened to Jim Lehrer? If that was listening, Canadian debates must be very different!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
I didn't watch... but I have to say I have no idea who to vote for. I don't like either candidates and feel that voting for any smaller party candidate is a waste of a vote since they never win.
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@Coco Bee: In my opinion, it isn't a waste to go and vote for a candidate you believe in and support, even if they probably won't win. If the two big ones don't do it for you, that's okay.

@Coco Bee: idk. I have to disagree with highwire. Maybe if you live in a state that has a definite party vote (California, Texas, etc) but in an important swing state like FL or Ohio, a single vote could be the difference to the person you're voting for becoming president
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@highwire: the person I wanted to vote for was originally running in the preliminaries but didn't make it this far. I would totally write them in!

@luckypenny: I live in a swing state. MN, we change every year. And we have a decent number of electoral votes.
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@luckypenny: That's a good point. I definitely do not live in a swing state. It was actually one of the ones you mentioned (Texas).

Can't vote, but DH's vote won't change~ I don't think most ppl would be swayed by pres debates one way or another.
coconut / 8472 posts
It did not change my mind. I only watched the first half hour before I had to go to bed, but as usual I found the debates not that useful. The part I watched they were both arguing the entire time over whether Romney's plan would have a 5 trillion tax cut.
Everyone's being very nice here so I won't go into detail - but basically I'm so incredibly disgusted with the person I'm not voting for and last night did nothing to help his image with me.
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@mrbee: Gong-show, I'm telling you. We have 3-5 leaders in the debates and they all talk at the same time.
pomelo / 5331 posts
@highwire: I don't view it as a waste necessarily, but it can be dangerous in certain states (like the one I live in, FL). Thankfully, in Florida, the candidate I'm most aligned with (he's not in the two-party system) has a good chance of cutting into the support of the two-party candidate I'm most terrified of. So I can actually vote the way I want and not screw myself into a president I despise.
eggplant / 11287 posts
No, but I am still undecided. I don't care for either candidate.
