I've had things like Tucks pads/Preparation H/Earth Mama Bottom Spray sitting in my Amazon cart for weeks but I can't decide if I should pull the trigger on ordering them or not (I'm due in 3 weeks). I know the hospital should have most of the stuff, and DH can always go run out and get something if I need it. But, I kind of want to have a supply at home ready to go. Did you order stuff ahead of time?

I did not. I was given a bag of supplies when I left the hospital...peri bottle, ginormous pads, disposable panties, and prescriptions for stool softener and pain!

No I didnt buy anything before hand. I got pretty much everything I needed from the hospital

i didn't. my hospital gave me a peri bottle and a sitz bath. then i bought some dermaplast, tucks, earth mama bottom spray, and colace after olive was born. i didn't really end up using the earth mama spray and just used refrigerated tucks. the peri bottle.... i seriously couldn't have lived without it! your hospital will probably give you one though. they had one in every room at our hospital.

Thanks for the replies! It sounds like I should just wait it out then and see what the hospital provides! I know they for sure have peri bottles. I could also call them and ask about other items...

I'd wait - your hospital will likely have everything you need. Mine had peri bottle, tucks, prep H, dermaplast, a sitz bath, and ice pads. And since you could always end up with a c-section for some reason, that's another reason to wait. I would get some pads as well as ibuprofen and stool softener though!

I bought a few pairs of yoga pants because I knew I'd be living in them for a while, but no medical supplies, I got the Tucks, peri bottle, etc. from the hospital as well.

I just bought heavy duty maxi pads and stool softner! You might want to also get a little nipple cream/butter if you plan to BF (though on reflection I think my hospital gave me some too).
My hospital gave me a peri bottle, sitz bath, tucks wipes, pads, and a bunch of those beautiful mesh undies.

I ordered all of that ahead of time - I love my husband dearly but I know I'd end up with him on the phone in the store, questioning about different sizes or fragrances or something and it would be frustrating. Not that much $ and gives me more peace of mind that its all in the bathroom, ready to go

I didn't order anything ahead of time. The hospital gave me a peri bottle (life saver), dermoplast spray (another life saver) and a few tucks pads but we needed to buy more of those. I'd wait and see what your hospital provides.

Most of the usual stuff is included in our home birth kit, so we already have it (peri bottle and cold packs, pads, etc.). When my sister delivered in the hospital she got a similar bag of supplies before she was discharged.
Still, it could be interesting to keep some of the more unusual stuff on hand! Homeopathic remedies, afterease, sitz sprays...just to see if they help out or not.

NNope, the hospital gave me a bag of supplies. Tucks pads, giant granny pads, mesh underwear, and dermoplast pain relief spray (this was soooooooo clutch for me). They also prescribed me two pain killers.

Oh, I would buy stool softener. Or you can buy it after (send hubby out). I only needed it for two or three days but it really helped and made going poo less terrifying.

Nope, the hospital gave me a peri bottle, mesh panties, and pads. I picked up tons of colace (ended up needing it for almost two months) and ibuprofen.

Save and see. I ended up running out of what hospital gave me two days after I got home (tucks, Dermopkast, hydrocortisone) and have to go to target 6 days post baby.

Only things I needed from home were colace, big pads, lanolin and earth mama boob tubes for when my milk started coming in. I also took baby diapers and wet and froze themto use as ice packs in my undies. I'd wear a big pad, then the frozen diaper, with two tucks on top.

I just used everything the hospital gave me. I did order the bottom spray as soon as I got home from amazon and it took over 2 weeks to arrive. By the time I received it I no longer needed it!

The only thing the hospital didn't give me by that I had bought in advance was Colace! Def want to make sure you have that!!
I also had bought some pads and tucks - which was good, I ran out of those first.

I had tucks and colace. Used the tucks, not the colace bc the hospital gave me a script for stool softeners. For a vaginal delivery..
Left hosp with a sitz bath, tucks, dermaplast, pads (hated them- preferred always infinity, biggest length they have!), pain meds (ibuprofen 800 mg & Tylenol w/codeine, breastfeeding), colace - and 1 ice pack pad. My nurse preferred me to use sitz bath once home instead.
My mom went to target for me and grabbed the infinity pads, cheap huge undies (for the big pad), & DH ran out to buy witch hazel (FYI, target brand 1.44/bottle, cvs $5+).
I used the hosp pads and poured witch hazel in them and froze them. Also..I didn't bleed a ton but its not as easily contained as a period on a pad, (everythings, uh, spaced out.,) lol just so you know - that's why the bigger ones are good at first to avoid any leaks

i didn't buy anything beforehand except for motherlove nipple cream. everything else, i got from the hospital, including dermoplast, the spray for your lady parts. i would, however, buy some pads, maybe a small pack of overnights and then a bigger pack of regular pads because the bleeding tapered off after the 2nd day for me. i would make sure you have advil/motrin on hand too. i didn't, and the storm shut down everything and that was painful.

Just wanted to bump this now that I actually used some of the stuff - so glad I brought lanolin to the hospital, and took dermoplast/tucks/giant mesh undies/giant pads/crotch ice packs home.
One thing I brought myself that was well worth it were wet ones/wipes instead of TP. I also brought Always infinity pads which were great once the worst was over - the hospital ones did not stick very well.
I have been totally underwhelmed by the Earth Angel Mama Baby postpartum stuff - waste of $!

I didn't, which was good since I had a c-section with basically no labour, so my nether-regions were 100% unscathed, and my c-section incision wouldn't have appreciated any of that stuff. As far as breastfeeding stuff, I got so much lanolin sample I never ended up needing to buy any I did buy breast shells for my flat nipples and wore them from 36 weeks on, and I bought a nipple shield at the hospital. Post-partum I sent my Mom out to buy me a c-section support belt and some non-stick gauze for over my incision though.

I agree with @winniebee. Stool softener and maxi pads. Also, I recommend a big bottle of advil and nipple cream. Another thing that I wished I had bought in advance was Mother's Milk tea and some of the herbs that are supposed to help enhance your supply.
