This is random, but when the iOS emojis changed to all yellow, i was so confused (and kinda weirded out by all the yellow faces). but then i read that you could change the skin tone to a different default, so i did. with the dancing lady emoji, i like to change it depending on my friend that i'm sending it to.
when i see yellow emojis, i wonder if my friends know they can change them!
did/do you change your emojis skin tone?

So DH and I both have iPhones and we just started using emojis. I downloaded an emoji app last year since I use emojis with my friends.
Anyway, DH has the iPhone emoji keyboard and I have the one I downloaded and when he sends me emojis with different colored skin tones I see this...

Yes I change mine and also question if others know they can change theirs...and if so, wonder why they haven't! Glad I'm not the only one!

I feel weird doing it! Like, I know I'm white I don't need my emojis to be white too! But the baby I changed to white because the yellow baby is weird.

@junebugsmama: @autumnlove: Haha. Yup, for the longest time DH and I (before he updated) was wondering why his mom sent alien heads all the time. I never understood it until DH updated his phone. She's a bad texter so we thought it was it something weird she was doing.

I didn't know you could, but I also really don't care. Id rather waste my time doing other pointless things like looking at Halloween costumes my kid will change her mind about. I don't think I've ever gotten one that was changed so I guess none of my friends know. No aliens either.

I usually change them to the one closest to my skin tone. Haha. @hilsy85: it means your iOS is out of date. I think u need 8.3 or higher. My husband saw the alien thing on his android tho I think. I'm not sure if you can fix that.

@Ajsmommy: just press and hold the emoji you want to change. should pop up with options.

@hilsy85: it just means that my phone doesn't recognize the emoji that was sent. I don't have the option to change skin color so I guess the alien head is used when it's not recognized. Like my phone sees this emoji but it's like its taking a different language that it can't understand. I think I have to update my phone and I should be able to see skin tones on emoji.
