The first week wasn't so bad but I'm drowning in work now.
My boss went out on paternity leave a month before I got back. So I'm covering my work, his work, and both of our piled up work. It's so much. I'm really glad he took all the leave he can - he's a nice guy and a hard worker. He covered my work for 4 months. But I am so counting the days until he gets back. Three more weeks. I don't know if I can make it.

That's rough! I hope things stabilize. Anyone you can pawn some of that work off to? 
I didn't come back to much really. I think they're still trying to figure out what to do with me. LOL!

Yes, the first month was rough because my co manager went on a 3.5 week vacation the day after I returned!

Update: My impossible amount of work has been downgraded to just an insane amount.
Someone dropped the ball while my boss and I were on leave. I caught the major 'oops' today. The mistake cannot be fixed for the quarter so the project I've been stressing over can't move forward until the next quarter. Most of my work is being pushed out until my boss is back to help me. I'm so happy.
I didn't say it in my original post but I was crying about the workload frequently and I had never been to that point before. So nice to be free.

@Corduroy: Haha, horray for someone goofing up!
Luckily, my company hired a temp for me while I was out-- so we had a month to train and about a month to transition everything back... so not a ton of work to come back to, which felt really nice!

@Corduroy: yay for catching the mistake and having your workload decreased to a manageable amount!
It wasn't too bad when I got back, and I was relieved because I was trying to adjust to being back in the office after four months off...it would have been really hard if my work had expected me to come back full force during my first several days back.
