Haven't decided for me yet since that's next year (eek!), but for DH, I rented out a nice clubhouse and invited over 100 ppl. Catered food in and hired casino dealers (roulette, blackjack, poker, etc), hired a photobooth, etc.

We will be going to Mexico My group of 5 and our hubbies are going to go after the last one turns 30.
On my actual birthday I want to throw an adult prom...dress up and dance but with alcohol this time

@MrsMcD: it can but definitely not like it could have at age 25!!

The whole weekend of my birthday was pretty kick-ass, though, actually. Friday night I went to see New Kids on the Block with some girlfriends, Saturday night Hubs threw me a surprise party, Sunday we vegged, and Monday (my actual birthday) I took the day off and treated myself to a spa day.

@Mrs. Pen: Oh to be young again! Haha. Can I give you a few of my years?
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
We didn't do much because I'm also pregnant. Instead we did a lot of cool trips last year and plan at least another next year. It was still a perfectly simple day.

@LuLu Mom: You mean you didn't have alcohol at your prom?

@MrsMcD: HAHA we got a breathalyzer before we went in...no joke!

I had the world's fussiest, wide awake, non sleeping newborn! It was a headache to go anywhere but we went to the zoo and then dh made bacon blue burgers!

@LuLu Mom: Oh wow. How old are you? I don't even remember breathalyzers being in existence when I was in high school. Gees, 31 feels old sometimes.

We didn't do anything special for 30 for either of us! We usually take each other out to dinner for our birthdays and try to make each other feel as special as possible on the actual day

My LO was a couple weeks old so we used the time to introduce her to friends and extended family. Wasn't anything crazy but it was a nice day.

@mrsjazz: happy birthday!!!
I am trying to learn to not hate my birthday. Six years ago, I was turning 24 and my aunt died of cancer. It was also the same day DH and I were moving in together. I remember having this gut feeling something was wrong on the 1st and I called her in the middle of the day. She had no idea who I was, and I sobbed the rest of the afternoon. Late that night, she called me on my cell. She was lucid and sang me happy birthday. She told me how much she loved me and said whenever i am sad to look at the stars because she will be among them making sure I am happy. She died the next day, on my birthday. I found out as DH and I were getting our moving van.
Chloe's middle name is after her. I miss her lots but especially today/tomorrow.
She'd kick my ass half way around the world if she knew I was sad! She loved to party for her bday.

@MrsMcD: I'll be 30 next year. Junior prom we didn't, senior prom we did. My class was known to be a party class and had several drinking infractions!

At Christmas my DH surprised me with a trip to Ireland the week of my 30th birthday! I like how he managed to combine 2 gift giving holidays into 1.

I tried to have a birthday party. Half the people didn't show up at all, and the other half left before 9 pm. My parents were the last to leave.
I'm still bitter. lol
So this year (31) I just went to dinner with my parents and husband.

My friends threw me a surprise party, which was awesome. DH's 30th is this year and we're going to Vegas, baby!

Still coming up with ideas... SIL and BIL went to Vegas with a bunch of friends (DH and I included). It was awesome! We all did super touristy things since we're not big gamblers/clubbers. Plenty of alcohol though.
My cousin had a big 'wine crawl' with 5 wineries in Temecula. They have one of those huge 16+ passenger white vans, so her husband was the DD and drove all our drunk butts around. We did it Mardi Gras themed, so we were in masks and beads and gold... It was amazing!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: happy birthday!!
I'll be 30 in July and about 5 months pg, so we'll probably just do something chill like BBQ or a beach day with my BFFs.
Hope ya have a nice day!

Instead of going out to dinner with my friends or throwing a part at a bar, we hired a personal chef and had a grown up dinner party at my friend's house. It was perfect.

I was pregnant so no partying but we did go to Florida to visit family and the following month DH took me to Nantucket as bday/anniversary/babymoon present.

@JennyLayneAZ: I feel ya! My 30th was last year and we were supposed to rent a cabin but then all my friends flaked after we paid the deposit! Luckily we were still able to cancel and instead hubby and I went somewhere else and ended up meeting a chef that was a contestant on Hell's Kitchen. Friends were supposed to meet us there but they flaked too. I'm still very bitter about it.

I was really bummed because I was planning on getting together with some out of town friends but it didn't work out. My family threw me a very low-key but lovely surprise English tea party themed party and I was shocked. It was great.

The actual day was pretty bad. It was a Saturday and I had to work PR at this huge shopping event in the Hamptons (trust me, this sounds A LOT better than it was). It was muggy and gross and I was running around like a moron. Then I was told I'd have to go into the office the next day to send out pictures to the press, etc. So I remember my husband (then fiance) came with me on Sunday to the unlit, un-airconditioned office until I got my work done, then took me out to lunch. What a trooper

DH turns 30 next year and I'd love to surprise him with something big. My ideal would be a surprise trip to see his favorite baseball team play. We'll see

I went skydiving. It was SOOO fun! It didn't hurt that I was strapped to a hot Australian guy, either =)

We're going to Vegas for mine! I didn't know my husband when he turned 30 but I think the guys took him away for the weekend.

I had to give a paper presentation at a big conference on my 30th bday - which sucked, because I hate public speaking. But, the conference was in Chicago where my sister lived. We stayed at the conference hotel, which was really swanky. My parents flew there from OR and surprised me, and I went out to dinner with my parents, sister, BIL, and boyfriend (DH). DH took me shopping and bought me a very nice necklace. When I got back, my friends had a surprise party for me...though I accidentally found out about it and wasn't really surprised. It was still a lot of fun though.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I'm so sorry our aunt died on your birthday. But I think the memory you have is beautiful and wonderful. You should hold on to her singing you happy birthday and celebrate each and every one.
@mrsjazz: I'm still waiting to see pics on this awesome party!

My husband (then boyfriend) and I celebrated by going to Hawaii! It was amazing. Both of our bdays are in the same month, so it was perfect for a joint celebration.
