I was in the drink till it's pink camp. I was temping and testing early, so I felt confident that I would know I was pregnant long before we shared a blood supply.

I accidentally abstained -- it just worked out that I wasn't drinking, but I didn't know I was pregnant so... I fully intended to drink till pink, though.

I spent a year TTC and never drank during TWW. The cycle I got my BFP, I drank margharitas, wine, cranberry vodkas - you name it! - throughout TWW.

When we first started TTC, I was a drink till its pink girl. Then the whole TTC thing started taking a while. When we started seeing a doctor for infertility and things started to get expensive, I abstained. We've been trying for 18 months now, so each month is different. If we've had an IUI or timed intercourse with meds I abstain. If we are having a "fun" month where we don't even do OPKs, then I drink. This month is our last natural chance prior to IVF so I am not drinking. I figure I don't want to do anything to prevent it from sticking!

Drink til it's pink. I would have been dry for 8 mos otherwise!

I did not drink during my final TWW only because I went through IVF so I knew exactly when things happened. I did drink during my regular TWWs though.

Drink until it's pink, baby! We were going to have drinks on the night I got my positive, until we saw those two lines... Then I quit.

@kiddosc: exactly. I found out so early I wasn't worried. I did drink less towards the end of the tww and made sure to test bf having anything.

I didn't, but I never drink. My doctor did tell me to continue all meds until I got my bfp though so I wouldn't worry about alcohol.

I drank until I got my bfp. This last time, I was pretty sure I would have a positive test in the morning, so the night before I just had a coke when we were out instead of wine like I would have.

When I first started I didn't drink at all. Now that I know I am not ovulating I have been having drinks every now and again even though I am still technically TTC. I will probably stop drinking again when I start Met.

@Mrs. Jacks: I was on my way to a New Years Eve party. Lol! So much for that!

I haven't stopped drinking. I had a beer yesterday and I'm in the tww.

I did not during the TWW but all other times if I felt like a beer, I had one.

Early in this 1.5+ year TTC journey, I abstained near the end of my cycles but as time has gone on, I have become part of the drink 'til it's pink camp. It's just been too long, hard and emotional of a journey for me not drink. I don't drink daily but most every weekend have a couple beer or glasses of wine. Happy Anniversary! I say go for the champagne!

Oh absolutely! I enjoy a glass of wine or a beer several evenings per week and I certainly wasn't going to stop that whilst waiting to see if I was pregnant every month. As it was, we got pregnant on our first cycle, but I'd actually been drinking more than normal just before I got my BFP as we'd had visitors from overseas and we'd been going out to eat or for evening drinks every night they were here. I didn't even think about the possibility that I might be pregnant at that time. Granted, the most drinks I'll ever have in one evening is two, so it wasn't like I was getting drunk preventing buzzed, but still.
Also, could someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the placenta wasn't developed until around six weeks, and before that point, the baby wasn't drawing directly from the mother's blood supply, meaning that they wouldn't be getting the alcohol in a mother's bloodstream, anyway..... I could be totally wrong on that but for some reason, I feel as though I read something along those lines. That wasn't the reason I was in the drink 'til it's pink camp but just wondering if anyone else had heard that?

I'm drinking until it's pink. I'm in my TWW right now and I've drank the past couple of nights. I don't see a problem with it since if you are pregnant, you don't share a blood supply until 6 weeks anyway. I just feel like it's too much for me to change my life every two weeks because of the possibility that I might be pregnant when the chances might be higher that I'm not.

@MsLipGloss: yeah it was a weird moment because I so wasn't ready to be pregnant! It took about ten weeks to be psyched up for our beautiful bean.

I spent 19 months TTC. At first I was "drink till it's pink", but never in super excess or anything. Toward the end though, abstaining from alcohol just seemed like a small price to pay if it made a difference, so I gave up alcohol all together.

I stopped during the later part of the TWW most cycles. The cycle I got pregnant I was on progesterone, so I didn't drink at all during the TWW. I felt odd about using that medicine and drinking (though I'm sure it would have been fine).

I'm not a big drinker to begin with but I made more of a point to abstain in the beginning of out TTC. As the years went on I was more lax about it. I didn't drink if we were undergoing IF treatments though.
Have some champagne & happy anniversary!

I avoided drinking for the first 6 months or so of TTC, but after that, it wasn't worth it. But, I really only have a drink or two at a time; nothing over the top. Plus, as far as I know, even a few drinks during the TWW if you happen to be pregnant won't cause damage.

Since starting fertility treatments, I don't drink any alcohol anymore, even prior to ovulation. There is a recent study showing that alcohol consumption in the weeks prior to the start of an ivf cycle substantially reduces the chances of success, suggesting alcohol impairs fertility. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21173655
I miss my wine!

Both DH and I stopped drinking a month before TTC because I'd read something similar to @raintreebee: that it can affect fertility and sperm health. Didn't drink caffeine either, for the same reason. I have no idea if it helped or if it was just coincidence, but I got pregnant the first cycle we were TTC.

I got my BFP on NYE morning- needless to say, I didn't drink that night!! However, I had been drinking over Christmas, but my doc told me it was fine because you don't really share a blood supply that early. So, unless you're abstaining from alcohol for just general health reasons, I see no reason to cut yourself off during the TWW. Pretty sure I had a Bloody Mary the morning we conceived my LO!

I did while TTC the 'ole fashioned way, but like @raintreebee, I quit during fertility treatments.

Yup! I didn't really change anything until I found out I was pregnant.
pomelo / 5000 posts
Very little amount, and none once I'm in the second week of the TWW.
My reason is this: I know that drinking alcohol makes my body work harder to process i, and since we apparently aren't people who get pregnant like *that*, I want to help my body out as much as possible.
