It was extremely rare that we ever ate out growing up. When we went camping, we'd usually catch crabs and eat them for dinner. If we celebrated something really big though, we might go out as a family for pizza.
Did you eat out much growing up?

When I grew up in Hong Kong, maybe b/c outside food is cheap/readily available/good? After we came to the US, def not. When we eat out my parents would just point out how we can make this at home for cheaper!

Nope! It was a rare treat. My parents were on a TIGHT budget and still are.

Kind of... not fancy places. My mom has always worked in restaurants, so I used to eat at her work all the time. When I was little it was Coco's and then an Italian restaurant when I got older. Lots of takeout, too. And lots of fast food. I think since my mom was around food and a kitchen all day she didn't want to cook when she got home, so she'd pick something up or sometimes make something quick.

Not a lot but maybe once a month or so? I always viewed going out as a treat. But we'd get take out like pizza, Chinese food, etc. maybe once a week.

With my mom, yes, all the time. She worked a ton and cooking was the last thing she wanted to do. When with my dad, no, he was on a tight budget so McDonalds was a treat.

Maybe once or twice a month, max. I was always excited about going out to dinner, there was usually a reason or occasion... not as much about "didn't feel like cooking" (which is our excuse these days)

My dad cooked during the week but we usually ate out at least once on the weekend!

We went out for dimsum a lot with my parent's friends & their families. We also went out for dinner once in awhile to Red Lobster or the Keg if it were a special occasion!

Not very often! Maybe once a month... a little more than that in winter when my brother played hockey and the families went out with the entire team. My dad made dinner every night.

Maybe once or twice a month. It was always takeout. We didn't dine out.

We had pizza weekly, all we had to do is tell the place our name and all the driver's knew where we lived, no address needed

At least a few times per month. Never fancy places, but my parents were very motivated to make sure we learned to behave well in public from an early age so they took us out regularly. My husband, on the other hand, never ever went out to eat with his family growing up so he LOVES going out to eat now and wants to do it all the time!

Not much. There weren't very many restaurants in the area I grew up in. Going out usually meant Mcdonalds or Burger King and once in a while a Chinese restaurant. We ordered pizza a lot, though.

All the time... We had terrible eating habits when I was a kid, and if my dad was out of town 75% of our meals would be fast food or takeout. Not good!

Nothing too fancy, but we went out with my grandparents and any aunts/uncles who happened to be in the area a couple times a month.

Nope, it was usually a treat. My mom worked, but always cooked dinner for us. We would maybe go out once a month - usually to Korean BBQ, Chinese (my favorite growing up!) or pizza. Fast food like McDonalds or Taco Time was a treat too.

Every Friday! We were on a tight budget growing up, but since we rarely went on vacations, it was one thing my parents splurged on.

Nope, but we did have pizza once a week. Otherwise, mom and dad cooked.

Maybe once a month and on birthdays. CiCi's Pizza or Poncho's.

I grew up in the country, where we didn't even have pizza delivery. No fast food, either.
So we "went to town" and out to eat maybe 4-5 times a year, tops. My dad would complain that my mom's food was better the few times we did eat out. Ha

We went out for fast food after church on Sundays but that's about it. My parents eat out a lot more now.

We always did lunch and dinner out on Sundays after church. My mom got cancer when I was in 5th grade & stopped cooking dinner. She never got back into it, and we ate out or got take out like basically every night.

Rarely, and takeout almost never. The odd pizza movie night, though!:)
