After two pretty aweful random roommates in the dorms I decided to get a single apartment. Best decision ever. It was especially nice when I had a migraine. I could shut out all the lights and have complete silence. I was pretty sure id never want to have a roommate ever again, but I love love love living with my husband.

Not technically. I lived with roommates throughout college and the year after I graduated I moved into another apartment with a roommate. She was still in school and went home during breaks/over the summer, so was pretty much alone for about 4 months of that year. I liked it sometimes, but other times it got a bit lonely.

I lived by myself freshman year because my parents didn't want me to have a roommate. But then DH became my roommate. Haha! Backfired on them.
I had my own studio apt out of college before DH and I moved in together.

Nope. I went from having a roomie to living with dh (my then bf).

Yes! I had a single in college one semester, randomly. I lived alone a few times after that but it was always nice to share rent. When Hops and I started dating, I was living alone. It was so glorious!! No roommate to deal with!

I've never lived alone. I had a roommate in the dorms then moved to an apartment with three other girls (we each had our own rooms) and now I'm with DH.

I got my own apartment my last year in college. I never had another roommate since living in the dorms. I've always lived alone after college until I got married.

I've done it and loved it! (but I've had lots and lots of roommates, including a kleptomaniac, a functional drug addict, a professional athlete and some other weird, normal and crazy folks!) Have I mentioned that I adore my husband? (No drama).

I didn't live in an apartment on my own but I did have my own room when I was in my last two years in college. I had suitemates, so 4 suitemates shared one large bathroom.

I did for a little while, but it was in an apt above my parents' apartment so I wasn't too alone. I wish I could have lived completely alone but it just never happened.

Nope. I went from living at home to living with my DH. I'm too much of a wimp to live alone.

When I transferred to an out of town college, I had my own apartment for two years. It was amazing. I loved living alone. It was a hard adjustment when I had a roommate my final year of college. I love living with my husband though.

I lived alone for 2 years, and I loved it! Before then I lived with a roommate for 3 years, and while I enjoyed the company, logistics-wise, it was a nightmare. My work schedule was always crazy, and maximizing sleep was really important to me. Some nights I would come home from work exhausted and all I wanted to do was brush my teeth, wash my face and go to bed, but my roommate would be in the bathroom taking her nightly hourlong shower, which drove me CRAZY.
I was nervous about living with DH, but I love it! Then again, maybe it's because we have our own bathrooms...haha -
Yep, for a few years. I loved it. Everyone should, just to learn to depend on ONLY you.

Ok so I am the freak that lived alone for about 15 years! Keep in mind I was 38 when I met DH so I had had a lot of years as an adult. I am fairly independednt so sharing with someone as an adult did not appeal.

@cupcakemama: LOL. I got set in my ways and it was hard to share with SO.

@MsMamaBear: suprisingly it wasn't a problem with DH! We are so lucky that we were fairly compatible in terms of day to day living. I think being older helps - we know that the small stuff really doesn't matter and isn't worth an argument.

I lived alone my senior year in college and then after that for several years until Hubby and I got married. Right now, he works out of town during the week, so in some ways I still live by myself.

I had a studio apartment my first year of grad school...but I was dating DH at the time, so I was always at his place or he was always at my place, lol. Hence us moving in together after about 9 months.

After a bad roommate experience right out of college, I decided it was time to live on my own. I had a one bedroom apartment for 2 years and it was wonderful! I did end up moving in with my best friend for a year afterwards because she wanted to move to town and it was fun. We still consider it a big year long party before we both got married!

I lived alone my sophmore year in college... and then post college for a couple years before DH and I got engaged and moved in together. I wouldn't have changed it for the world I LOVED having my own place in my mid 20s. -
After college, I had my own apartment until DH and I moved in together 4 years later. I loved it! And then moving in with someone was a huge transition - there were messes and dirty dishes. I just about had a stroke everytime I came home! We've worked on it - he tries to be less "slovenly" (acc. to my standards) and I try to be less "anal" (acc. to his standards).

Yup, lived on my own for a couple of years before moving in with my husband. (also lived with a variety of interesting roommates before living on my own). Living on my own was the best!

Nope, I lived at home with my parents, and then I moved in with DH after we were married! I don't think I could ever live alone...

I lived alone for 2 of my college years. It was great, but I moved in with my older sister after that (and until I was married) and I enjoyed that even more.

Yes. I had room mates post college (hello NYC rents) and then moved to Hoboken alone.

Yup I lived alone in a tiny studio my first year out of college. I loved having a space all myself that I didn't have to consult with anyone else on how to clean/organize it.

@cheesetomywhine: I don't think there's anything wrong with not living alone! I assumed most people went from having roommates to living with their SO's. Most of my friends always had roommates.

I lived by myself for about 3 years before DH moved in with me. It was wonderful and lonely at the same time. I was able to fully appreciate having someone around and also realize just how much work it is to clean up after myself (which I never really learned at home or in college).

Nope, I went from parents' house to college with roommates, back to my parents' for a year, then moved in with DH. Housing is too expensive here to rent an apartment alone, at least right out of college!

@Modern Daisy: I loved NOT having to clean up after myself while living alone. But then I'd always freak out of someone wanted to come over because it was just too embarrassing.
