I had a MAJOR overbite and was lucky enough to get headgear in grade five. I wore that horrible thing day and night for three months and was out of it in time for school. Then I had braces for two years. I still have a bit of crowding on the bottom. Maybe I'll get Invisalign when we're done having babies.
DH has perfect teeth naturally. Lucky man.

twice! first time i was 14/15 and wore them for a year and a half. then six months later had to get them back on. and at 29 - i want invisalign. my ortho sucked!
dh has fairly straight teeth naturally!

No braces for me! I wanted braces as a kid cause all my friends had them, but my dentist said I didn't need them. I have straight teeth naturally...they're not perfect, but when I go to the dentist sometimes the assistant will ask who did my braces, so I figure that's a good sign!

Yep, mine were awful! I had major overcrowding and a gap between my teeth. I had them for 3 years. Unfortunately i was awful about wearing my retainer so my bite has slowly gone forward. I may try invisalign sometime down the road too.

Yes, twice! Once in jr high and I did a round of Invisalign when I was 28.

Yup, I had braces from 6th to 8th grade, then promptly sucked at wearing my retainers so they started shifting pretty badly in college. I finally got Invisalign a few years ago and it was expensive, but made such a difference and I feel so much better about my smile now. I stopped wearing the retainers after I had my wisdom teeth out and they have shifted again, just a little, so now I need to go back a few aligners and re-straighten them out. I'm dreading it.
DH had braces too, but he got the bar on the back of his teeth so they never shifted and are still perfectly straight. Jerk.

Yes, and headgear that I had to wear 23 hours a day in middle school. Sob.
At my initial consultation, the ortho asked my dad if I had ever been in a severe car accident because my jaw was 'severely disformed'. He got all papa bear on him and told him that I was beautiful (in a not so nice way) and stormed out. hehe.

Yep. I had them for a year and a half, and my bottom teeth aren't straight anymore. My husband's teeth aren't perfectly straight but he never had braces.

Yep! Braces for 2 years, and about a dozen surgeries to go with them!

@mrsjyw: Ugh, same. I had braces twice. The first time I had them for 6 months on just my top 6 teeth. Then, after that, I had a full top set on... Then I had multiple retainers. No headgear though...thankgawd.

I had braces a couple times as a kid, and then I did invisalign as an adult. This time I'm making sure to wear my retainers because going through that was a serious b*tch and I don't want it to have been for nothing.

Yep braces for 3-ish years. Corrected a horrible underbite. I also got made fun of at school for that before the braces.
I was a four eyes and fence mouth!

Yep. I had them for 2 years from January of 7th grade to January of 9th grade.
