I did! We got home and it was like.... What now?!? We had so much help in the hospital, then we were on our own. I didn't know how to get him to sleep! So that first night... And those first four weeks were exhausting!
I think I'll feel more competent with the next one!

I was nervous, but knew what I was doing.
Baby 2 is a lot easier for sure.

The first day we just sort of stared at him and nearly panicked every time he cried. He wouldn't sleep unless he was being held so I ended up dozing holding him in the recliner all night.

I was terrified. But I was MORE scared when my husband had to go back to work. The first day I was alone with LO, I pretty much had a panic attack.

Hmm not to the extent that I thought I would. I spent 4 days in hospital with LO before going home so had started getting the hang of things. Dh on the other hand was freaking out! I don't think he got very much sleep that first night but I went out like a light since I had next to no sleep while in hospital. Luckily lo is a pretty easy-going baby so I didn't have to stress too much.

I still feel clueless some days. 
I will say that I've found it much easier at home than at the hospital.

I remember I feeaked about him sleeping in his crib by himself and stripped all bumpers, mobile and his banner off his crib BC I was afraid he would knock it all down BC u know newborns are so strong....ya crazzzzy...lol....ya I slept in the rocker right next to his crib for days too.

I think I felt more clueless this time with P than I did with G since it had been 8 years. lol I totally forgot what it was like to have a newbie.

@Rubies: My mom was here for 2 weeks after he was born, and the first day DH went to work after she left I cried (it was his long day, too--12 hours!)

Even though I was only 15 for my first I think it came to me naturally. I didn't have help with her at all so I didn't have time to second guess myself or be scared.

I'm due in May but this is actually my fear! lol I really hope we'll be ok, my in laws are coming to help so that should be wonderful for us.

Strangely no, but after the sleepy phase wore off I definitely did! Still do most days, well think we've figured out what's good and he throws us for a loop the next day. Never thought I'd spend so much time thinking about a baby's sleep habits and quantities!

Not really. I think it came pretty naturally to me. I started feeling clueless around 5 months when she decided that she never wanted to sleep again.

No. I thought I was going to feel helpless but we were fine. All she needed was to sleep, eat and get diapers changed. We could do that! We learned as we went.
