I went away to orchestra camp (played violin) for several years, starting around 11 years old. It was an awesome music and art camp out on an island and I had so much fun (even if I was homesick at first!) Before that I just went to day camps during the summer.

I will definitely send LO away to camp! It was so much fun, and its important for them to get away from parents and spend time on their own, learning and making friends. I want to encourage LO’s independence – and get a few days alone with my husband too!

I went to overnight camp each summer & loved every minute of it! It was such a great experience for me that I would love for my kids to have it as well.

Love love loved sleep-away camp! I'm in Florida, so I actually went to Space Camp at KSC a couple of times, which was AWESOME! We also have a local wildlife park that does a summer camp program, which I also attended a few years. I loved everything about it.

I went to sleepaway camp every summer when I was younger and I used to love it! I remember being timid when my parents dropped me off then begging them to let me stay longer after a couple of days! I definitely want to send my future children to sleep away camp, you learn so much and have so much fun in a week it's totally worth the investment.

I was homesick for a week but then it got better. I came home with our group picture where I was in a guns and roses shirt, though. Haha. Mom really enjoyed that (not).

@bree72: Space Camp! How fun! I always wanted to do that but we were too far away.

I would like to send our LO to sleep away camp. It's a great learning experience.

i can't think of going away on any kinda camps, except church retreats.... i don't think i'll send my kids away, unless it's for retreats as well.

i went once when i was in 6th grade, and then to church summer camp for several years. i loved it!
