I wore sooo many secondhand clothes growing up... the other option was to wear my sister's secondhand clothes. Brilliant move by my mom... all of a sudden, Goodwill sounded like a great option!!
I saved up though, so I could buy some clothes for myself once I hit junior high. Just some simple polos... oh how I appreciated not being a decade behind the latest trends.

We actually just ended up wearing hand me downs from older cousins (which we had a LOT of!) Through high school, my sister and I shared our "back to school" new clothes. We weren't allowed to say "But this is MINE you can't use it!" by that point we were getting new clothes though, since kids stop "growing out" of stuff by then.
We still share stuff well into our late 20's! Must be habit now

No, my mom waited for sales, though. My cousins (4 and 7 years younger than me) wore my hand-me-downs, though.

No, but I wore a lot of hand me downs from my older sister-- happily, because I idolized her, and generally our clothes were from cheaper places like Caldor and Bradley's (neither of them are around anymore, right? They were like Kmart).
@wahine08: My sister and I lived together for 5 years after I graduated college and still shared clothes and shoes! We definitely had things that were mine or hers, but had an open closet policy Luckily we are roughly the same size. Now I'm wearing all her maternity clothes!

I seriously doubt my parents were aware of places like Goodwill and Salvation Army! I did wear hand me downs from my cousins though.. who were a good 15 years older than me so I was rocking styles that were exactly out of style then. (rocking 70s looks in the 90s, and they're now back in fashion in the 2010s)

I wore a lot of my sisters clothes (she is 7 years older than me), so even then they were a bit outdated. I'm all about thrift shopping now for LO though however, they are in style clothes...I think

No, but I did in college by choice. My mom flipped out and cried when she found out I was shopping secondhand. I couldn't convince her it was because I enjoyed thrifting.

No, although I did get a quite a few hand me downs from my older sister. Luckily I was so small for my age that became not an option so my mom bought me new stuff (of course nothing special but it was new so I was happy!)
