@mrbee we used to go to ocean city maryland to our family beachouse and go crabbing on the dock! i had such good memories of it there.

We did Disney World every march and I have the best family memories. We went to Prince Edward Island in the summer time..such a beautiful spot!

DH thinks I'm crazy for wanting to pick a vacation spot with our kids - he thinks we should see as many different places as possible. But I think it makes for great memories, even if we pick a place that' s more local.

Nope, no regular vacation spots. We went to the beach a lot and visited our grandparents, but that's it. Nothing we did as a vacation every year. I think it could be fun to have something like that for our kids though, but who knows if we'll end up making it happen or not!

We'd spend at least a week in South Carolina every year. My grandmother sold her beach house last year, so after 24 years that tradition is coming to an end.

I definitely want to do something similar with my DD!

With my dad's business we didn't really get to take vacations, but with our family, we go to Hawaii every year. In fact, we just loaded onto the plane right now! Wish us luck for 10 hours on the plane!

We used to camp down on Padre Island in TX about once a month, more during the summer. During the winter my dad would cook a big pot of chili over a campfire...man I loved those weekends.

DH and his family used to go to a beach in NC every other summer. Last year his grandmother decided that we should all go again (because she's convinced she's going to die soon), so we did...and had such a blast with the kids that the rest of the family has decided we should make the trip every summer until she does pass, and then we'll probably stretch it out to every other summer. Maybe. We'll see. I'm super excited to bring E down this summer, though.

We went to the south coast of Devon, to a small town by the mouth of a river, where the seafood was excellent and there were lots of fun walks and things to do. I hope to take my LO there one day.

A cabin on a remote lake in NE Maine. We've spent a week there every summer since I was 5... DH proposed to me during our 20th summer there

We plan on continuing the tradition for as long as we can. My sisters are all grown, someday we'll all have our own families to bring!

We spent every summer on-and-off at my grandma's house on the Jersey Shore (since my mom had summers off.) We stopped going to that house when I was in HS due to my grandma's passing and some issues between my dad and his siblings, but we always still went down the shore. We then started going to RI and rented a house for 2 weeks every summer there. We also always spent at least a week on the Cape in MA with my mom's best friend and/or my Aunt. I hope to take my LO to the Jersey Shore at least once a year starting next year And I also want to start a tradition of going to the Indy 500 every May, in Indianapolis where my husband grew up and where we lived until last year.

besides visiting my grandparents, we never went to vacations in the same place. and for most of our vacations, my parents were tagging vacations onto business trips, so at least one parents was usually working for at least part of the time.

so i'm sort of torn. on one hand, i'd love to have a special family retreat to have a real continuity of memories for our future kids. but on the other hand, it was really nice to get to see lots of different places as a kid too. i definitely want to carve out family vacation time a bit more deliberately than my parents did, in any case.

We went skiing in NH every winter and we had a house down the Jersey Shore where we spent a lot of time in the summer.

We went to longtime family friends who live on Lake Huron to enjoy their friendship and the beach! We've gone every year - and this year my parents bought their own retirement beach house just down the road, so we'll have a bit more space!
