It would be great to leave Charlie and Olive with a babysitter and go out on a date, but it's hard right now when they're so young and on different schedules. It's hard for the two of us to get them down at night... how will a babysitter do it!
Maybe when they're a little bit older. My parents never had babysitters watch us though. They either didn't go out, or one went out and one stayed home.

Oh yes! Not often though seeing we had my grandmother or sisters to take care of us. But I remember going to baby sit during the summer quite a few times.

I had nannies when I was very young (they lived with us) but when I was a bit older - 6+ - i had babysitters all the time. Mostly high school girls. I loved it.

We grew up without relatives in the area so we had lots of babysitters when we were bigger, like elementary school age. My parents worked at the college in our town so they were mostly students or grad students and I remember having fun with them!

We stayed with my moms bestfriend quite a bit.. well not really often, but she was the go-to sitter for anniversaries and dates. Daytime I started watching my sister after school when I was in the 3rd grade, her in 1st.

I went to in-home daycares/babysitters up until kindergarten. Never had a babysitter come to watch me at night or anything though--on the very rare occasions that my parents went out, I went to my aunt's house.

My brother would only let my mom put him down. They would either go out before bedtime for an early dinner or go to dinner, come home to put him to bed and then go out to a movie or something.

There were three of us so it was hard for my mom to leave us when I was very young. She tried to leave us when I was a baby with my grandma and my grandma ended up calling her because I wouldn't stop crying 
Apparently I was also pretty attached to her. And I was EBF and wouldn't take a bottle so that was pretty hard.
As I got older we had babysitters though.

Nighttime was almost always family but during the day we had a babysitter, especially in the summer and was usually a high school aged family friend.

No babysitters. My oldest sister is 6 years older than me, so I think once I turned 3, we stayed home alone.
Grandma would watch us occasionally too.

Yes. We went to daycare in private homes, so now and then our daycare provider's daughters would babysit us in the evenings. Once our daycare provider quit (I think I was 11), we were home alone after school, but in the summers we still had a babysitter so we could actually get out of the house and do stuff like go to the pool and HersheyPark. Otherwise, we lived 10 miles "out of town" and would have been stuck at home all day. We probably would have murdered each other.

Yep! When we were young it was family, but when we got older (all out of diapers) the neighbor kid would watch us all the time.

No, never. The only time my grandparents (who lived across the street) watched me was when my brother was born and when they had to take the cat to the emergency vet.
We have some good friends that I trust, but I feel bad asking them to watch him for us to go out, when we haven't had dinner with them in a while.

Never had a baby sitter. I grew up in a 2 family home with my grandmother and great grandmother living in the first floor apartment so they were always there to keep an eye on us.

Yup! We had three sisters that lived across the street from us growing up and all of them babysat for us as they got old enough. The youngest sister was only 9 years older than me and is now my best friend and was matron of honor at my wedding. The oldest sister started watching us when I was just an infant and my brother was 3. The whole families are close so it was the perfect set up. My BFF is now a mom of 2 and she calls me alllllll the time to bitch about how my mom was hooked up having them across the street because she can never find a good babysitter.

@Mrs. Bee: what about doing a day date? Since Cobi was giving us so much trouble with going down at night, we went out for lunch on a day DH had off, or you could go during the weekend. Not quite as romantic maybe, but you still get your alone time 
I only remember my aunt watching us once, and the neighbor girl once. Otherwise my siblings were always home to watch us. I don't remember my parents going out before my siblings were old enough to watch us.
