If you did, how long did they last for and how did you manage them?

I was still having really painful contractions (like a 4-5) for about 20 mins until I delivered the placenta with my second child.

Yes and I wasn't expecting them! Somehow no one mentioned they get worse with each pregnancy. The really painful ones only lasted maybe an hour or two but they were not super frequent like real contractions. I thought they hurt quite a bit for a day or two when nursing as well. I had a med-free birth but I took the tylenol and motrin offered to help with them. Hope that helps!

Yes - mostly all the painful contractions happened while breast feeding (which of course, was a struggle in itself!)

Yes! They were awful! I never had any with LO #1 so I was completely unprepared for them with my second baby. They were right on par with severe period cramps and would hit every time LO latched on, and sometimes between feeds as well. The cramps, coupled with the pain of BF'ing again, was enough to bring tears to my eyes every single feed for the first week. I never took any painkillers after LO #1's birth, but with LO #2, I kept up an around the clock Advil regimen for the first five days.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but they apparently get worse with each subsequent baby as the uterus has to work that much harder to shrink back down to size. A lot of other things were easier the second time around but this was definitely the exception to that rule!

They were pretty bad this last time one was so unbearable I was in tears, I was not expecting them at all. Lasted a few days.

Oh gosh.
Well, yes, this is definitely something to look forward to. A friend of mine recommended these drops: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004000CA4?vs=1 and I was thinking about buying them but didn't really want to spend the money if it is something that rarely happens but since it seems like the norm I might just bite the bullet and get them and hope they help!
Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I didn't have them with number two, but good grief they were so bad with number three. I had no idea what they were, none of the nurses told me either, they thought I had a hernia or distended bowels (sp?)

Yes, it was SO horrible!!! They were extremely intense but luckily mine only lasted the first 2-3 days. They were a million times worse than the ones I had with #1 though.

They were definitely more noticeable. I wouldn't say they were terrible, but it did hurt more and probably lasted 3 days. Every time I would nurse they would be quite painful.

Ouch. I was so looking forward to an easy recovery since lo1 was a pretty easy recovery, and now this...

Omg yes - I didn't have them with my first, so I was really shocked that I experienced them pretty intensely with my 2nd!

I hardly noticed them with my first, but with #2 there was one night about 10 days pp that was excruciating. I usually have a very high pain tolerance, but these had me in tears (worse than labor to me). Luckily a super hot shower and a very large dose of Motrin helped me fall asleep finally.
Other than that one night, recovery was an absolute breeze!
