LO is 8 months, and we won't start trying for #2 until she's at least a year, but I'm thinking ahead. I don't have my period back and am wondering if maybe I won't until she no longer nurses at night.
Was your LO still nursing in the MOTN when you got your period back and/or got pregnant? How old were they? If you were still nursing at night, how many times? (I thought about adding a poll but think the answers might be a bit more complicated than a simple yes or no). Thanks!

No, but I got my period back at 7 weeks pp despite EBF. 
I did have to *fully wean* to get my hormones in line and my cycle back to "normal," however.

Xander was 9.5 months when I got my period back, but was NOT nursing at night anymore.

It was the shear amount of nursing sessions that brought my period back at 8/9m pp. We went from 5-6 sessions a day to 4 (he quit daytime sessions due to the introduction of solids).

I was EBF'ing, including multiple sessions per night and got AF back at 6 months!

C hasn't been nursing MOTN for about a month and a half now and still no period. She is 10.5 months old and usually nurses 4 times a day.
My sister didn't get her period back until she fully weaned when her son was 13 months.
We don't plan to TTC until she is 2 so this suits me just fine.

@septca: What the heck, could this be an endo thing? I'm almost 6 weeks pp and I think I'm having my period! Super grouchy about this!
@Zbug: I'm not positive but I think I'm having my first pp period. Still nursing every 2.5-3 hours at night and constantly during the day. I supplement with formula though so not EBF.

10.5 months PP and I started trying to night wean. Got AF back. When I tried previously, I spotted, so I'm guessing (for me), night weaning might have brought her on. We do occasionally still nurse MOTN.

I got my period at 6 months PP and DD was nursing 2-4 times overnight. I haven't had it since then. We are EBF.

nope...I got my period back 6 weeks postpartum, every 28 days

Thanks, ladies!! My LO is still nursing 6-7 times during the day and 2 (sometimes 3 ugh) at night. It seems like that's a lot for 8 months, but she isn't super into solids yet. Although she doesn't seem to nurse much less on days when she eats more so who knows.
Sympathy to all those who got theirs back so early! Ideally. I will get mine back the month before we want to start trying

I was still nursing 1-2x overnight when my period came back at 8.5 months. It's been very regular ever since!

I got my period back when LO was 8 months. EBF, nursing 1-3 times a night and a total of about 6-7 times in a 24 hour period. My cycles have been regular since then.

My period didn't come back until a month after we completely weaned - which was 8 months after he stopped nursing at night.

Period came back at 9.5 months and LO had long been night weaned. He breastfeeds 5-6 times a day. He had just gotten into solids at 9 months.

Thanks again for all the input! There does seem to be a correlation btw night feedings and Aunt Flo for at least some people. Good to know in case we get to the point of ttc before LO stops nursing in the MOTN.

No. We co-bed and I nurse Vi during the night and several times during the day and my period came back at 13 months. I wish it had stayed away longer...

@Arden: haha. 13 month sounds perfect to me. And then after the next LO, it can pretty much stay away forever :). I know I'm getting way ahead of myself here, but I was hoping to let her night wean on her own (we also cobed). She's only 8 months but I don't really see that happening anytime soon.

no, i night weaned when my LO was 6-7 months and didn't get my period back until i cut out day feedings around 12 months (i.e. nursed only morning and before bed).

I got it back at 7 months and he was still nursing 2-3 times but it was shortly after we stopped co-sleeping. The amount of nursing decreased when he started sleeping in his crib
