I've heard so much about how it's easier for LOs if the father goes in and comforts them because they know they can't get any nursing from daddy! However, I guess I'm a little miffed that DH appears to be unwilling to help get LO in the middle of the night. I'm sure he would help if I was also working to be fair, but since I'm not, maybe I'm supposed to be the one that handles this entirely? What do you think? He's the type that seems to need his 8 hours of sleep...so there's that! He's willing to let LO CIO simply to make things easier for him!!!

How old is your LO? DH helped and still helps me with overnight issues (not night weaning anymore, but any wakes) at 18 months. But he is 100000% better at falling back asleep than me, and isn't as high sleep need as yours sounds.

@cranberryapple: that is sad! mine has said he would help if necessary, with a time limit -i.e. for 5 days and then reevaluate. LO dropped the night feed on his own, save for teething/sickness I still nurse if he wakes up, so fortunately we've avoided the discussion

I am a WOHM but I just wanted to agree that night weaning is 1,000x easier if your husband does the checks. If my DD saw me in the MOTN, all she wanted was to eat, no matter how long she had to cry for it. If my husband went in, she was back asleep within minutes. BUT, I will say that my husband was 100% on board with helping because: (1) helping meant it took less time to get her back to sleep - he was awake anyway if she was crying, and (2) night weaning was his idea (I was okay with one wake up, but he claimed that it was ruining his sleep).

I totally wish my SO was able to help with night weaning! My husband works long hours in the office and often has to finish up work in the middle of the night at home anyway, so his sleep is minimal as it is... It just wasn't an option for us and I was terrified I'd nurse our kid at night til preschool or beyond!
But around 18-ish months, she finally started to STTN. What helped us most was breaking up the nurse-to-sleep habit. I'd still nurse at bedtime, but I wouldn't let her sleep right away. We'd brush her teeth afterwards, then read books. I made sure she was tired enough and I would pat her to sleep with white noise on. This seemed to help her sleep longer at night and the MOTN feeds stopped. It also shortened her nursing sessions at bedtime, and helped with the weaning process overall. So it's possible to do it on your own, but I guess you just have to figure out what works for you and your LO. Good luck!

@SAHM0811: Yes, yes, YES!!! Breaking our nurse-sleep association was key to STTN. Now I put DD in her PJs and nurse about 30 minutes before bedtime. Then we have 30 minutes of quiet play/snuggle time with daddy before he/I puts her in her sleep sack and into her crib. Usually takes her 5-10 minutes to actually fall asleep, but she never cries - just plays or tosses a bit and then falls asleep on her own. (I have actually read that if your baby falls asleep immediately when you put them down that is a sign of overtiredness - a baby who knows how to self-soothe and is being put down at the appropriate time with play/self soothe for 5-15 minutes before falling asleep).

No but that's bc Lo dropped his night sessions on his own. Dh will go in if he's having a bad night bc he's sick e something if I ask him to. And if we had gotten to te point f sleep training for night Wakings, dh would definitely have gone in to help (as long as it was a wknd).
