I keep hearing of women losing their plug or getting their bloody show. Does this happen to everyone before labor, or only some people? I was wondering if it usually comes before there have been any other signs of labor?
I find myself always checking for mine!

I lost mine before having any other signs of labor. Mine started coming out in pieces over a couple of weeks. (Sorry, TMI!)

I lost it about 2 hours before my water broke. I had minor cramping in the mornings for the previous 2 days, but no real contractions at that time.

I lost it before I had regular contractions (my 37-38 week I was having braxton hicks every day regularly), but I ended up having to be induced before I was able to go into labor on my own, but it happened 4 days before I was induced. I think I would have gone into labor sometime that week if I had been allowed to.

Yes, I lost mine days before anything real happened!

I lost about half of mine the morning of April 1st. Late that afternoon I lost the rest and then my water broke that night. I never went into labor, they had to induce me.

@winniebee: Thursday. No, I lost mine (or half of it?) over a week ago. And it's just hours 'till May.

i lost mine a couple hours after labor started with charlie, after my water broke. i didn't lose mine with olive, or it came out after i already got the epidural.

I started losing my partially but never fully.

I started losing mine on a Thursday morning, and by that evening I was having regular contractions.

I saw ZERO until the morning I went into labor... When I wiped after peeing I saw a TINY TINY (think 1 millimeter) chunk of blood on the tissue. Not a smear, but a chunk, so I knew it had to be SOMEthing...?? Especially since I didn't see even one spot of blood through the entire pregnancy. Still never saw the plug but I did deliver 24 hours later!

With DD, I lost it a couple hours before my water broke, but I had already been having contractions. With DS, I lost it a couple days before I went into labor, and I had been having LOTS of contractions.
