Just wondering.
I'll add a poll so that you can still answer if you are too embarrassed
If you did..were you embarrassed, or just too in the moment to care? If you didn't...did you go beforehand?

While I was in labor, yes (on the toilet). While I was pushing? No. I think my body expelled everything in anticipation of getting that baby out. I also had a lot of back labor which helped...eliminate things.

Yes, both times. And both times I was totally numb so I didn't even know I went. The nurses whisked it away and cleaned me up so quickly that I had to ask "wait, did I poop?" I would never have known if I didn't ask!

Oh. I think for both it was before pushing. While in labor.

No I didn't surprisingly! I wouldn't have cared if I did though, that would have been the least of my worries.

@mediagirl: I hear about that a lot-- that you go so much during labor that you are empty for pushing. I'm just hoping that will be me, but trying not to think too much about it.
My friend said she did and the nurses said it meant she was pushing correctly.

@Foodnerd81: yes! The nurses kept telling me to push like I had to poop - and when I did - it meant I was pushing properly!

I pooped while pushing and I could feel it happening (LOL, TMI)-- one of my friends was my L&D nurse, too, and I think she had the privilege or cleaning me up But honestly, at that point, I couldn't have cared less. The hubs didn't even know.

No but I thought I did I whispered to my hubby asking him while I was pushing.

No, as far as I know. I never asked and no one ever said anything, so I'm gonna go with no.

No. I hadn't eaten for 34 hours by the time I started pushing.

Yes I did while pushing. I knew it was gonna happen cause LO was down so low (+2 station) for nearly 3 weeks. I hadn't taken a normal poop the whole time. Stupidly I didn't push as hard as I could have cause I knew it was happening but then I just had to say the hell with it. I could feel the Dr wipe it away, it wasnt much and then just asked the nurse to flush it....so embarrassing.

@winniebee: same! I specifically told everyone in the room NOT to tell me one way or the other.

Yup! I felt the nurse wiping that area, then when I had the mirror to watch while pushing I saw a little come out... DH didn't see though so I was glad for that, ha! Otherwise, I didn't care, I just wanted that baby out! (Btw, I didn't go before going into labor and I pushed for 5 hrs so I think it was inevitable)

Yes. I went right when labor started, towards the end of labor (in the toilet) and while pushing. My goodness. You would have thought it was all out by the time I pushed, but no, more came out. By the time I was pushing, I just didn't care.

Probably? Honestly I didn't care. I work in pediatrics and spend a lot of time in the delivery room waiting for baby. Lots of women poop and it always amazes me that some women feel embarrassed about it. You're pushing out a baby! I can guarantee that no one else in the room is worrying about a little poop.

I know I did a little with my second and I have no idea with my first.

I did not...Everyone kept telling me that I wouldn't care even if I did because I would be so distracted by everything else going on, and they were totally right! I can't believe that I even worried about pooping while pushing...At that point, anything goes, and I couldn't have cared less if it happened.

Yup. DH told me about it afterwards. I could have lived forever without that info.

Yes. I was vaguely aware of it when it happened but I couldn't have cared less. I joke about it with DH now.

I did not... I didn't go before (during labor) or for four days afterwards. And THAT was the hardest (literally- it was hard, sorry TMI but I guess we ARE talking about poop here!) poop of my life.

@winniebee: haha, I thought I didn't care but then a few days later I asked my husband who had a front row seat. Thank God his answer was a negative.
I didn't poop but then again:
1- I woke up in labor so I hadn't eaten anything for the 9h prelabor and the 7 hours of labor.
2- I only pushed for a total 15mins and there were breaks in between those 15mins when my doctor was getting prepped.

Yup. The doctor just cleaned up and whisked it away. I had an epidural but it wasn't working well at that point, so I knew it. I totally did not care, even though I'm sure Hubs saw it.

I did not, or if I did, they took care of it and never told me. I was beyond caring at that point, as most people are.
