@cheert16: @grizz: Oy, no shame!!! Totally natural!!!
@prettylizy: Ugh, I went #2 pretty much the first time they let me get up and go to the bathroom (I was kept in bed for 6 hours after the delivery). The two nurses that helped me in there (I couldn't walk on my own) were really impressed that I went #2 with no fear, but I didn't even have time to stress about it, I was too completely distracted and horrified by how much I was still bleeding.

@lovehoneybee: oh, i wish i would have gone asap after birth. hey didnt require me to either, so i didnt go for like over a week after i was discharged! so horrid.

I have no confirmation, but I'm pretty sure it happened. I saw the nurse (I had two) whisk something over to a container. It was all wrapped up. Nothing was said. DH is adament I didn't, but he was up by my head (or sitting down. At one point he because a bit pale and the nurses made him sit) the whole time.

Yes. I didn't realize I did in the moment, actually, but DH told me later that I had. Honestly...I'm not really embarrassed -- I just think it's one of those "fun" things we get to experience during labor.

No, or if I did I sure didn't know it. I know I farted while pushing, and was SO embarrassed!!
pomelo / 5607 posts
I've already told DH that if he notices that I do, he is not to tell me. Of course, I might feel it, but if I don't, I do NOT want to know. I made that VERY clear, and he thinks I'm being ridiculous, but I think he's taking me seriously.

I was afraid of this too...but I ended up with an unplanned csection so nope

Two things:
1. A nurse friend of mine says that women who say they didn't either had an *extremely* fast labor, didn't know, or are lying. Because *everyone* does.
2. DH and I had a rule going in that pushing was going to be ugly and terrifying. And that anything that happened during that time was never to be discussed.

@grizz: this made me LOL.
i didn't, but my doula kept notes for her association and she wrote that i peed while pushing.... things i didn't need to know!
clementine / 818 posts
No. I told DH I didn't want to know if I did, and if I asked to say no. My post partum nurse asked (she was trying to figure out when to give me colace I think) and he said he didn't think so, then she had to ask the Dr. and he said no, so woohoo for me. I did however pee everywhere, I could feel it.
pomegranate / 3192 posts
I'm pretty sure I did, as I felt my midwife wipe that general area. Although I refuse to ask DH because he probably doesn't know the rule of "you always say no" and I don't really want confirmation!

@septca: I had a fast labor, but I pushed for about an hour. I also hadn't eaten in a while, and I pooped pretty much all night before I had her.

I think so with my first. DH won't really confirm either way but I know they whisked the pad underneath me away a couple of times whilst pushing and I am guessing that can only be due to one thing! Ah well, didn't care and DH would never bring it up as a means of teasing me or as a joke.
With my second, I don't think I did. DH was holding a mirror down there for me to see everything and I am pretty sure there was no poop. DH says he didn't see any and he was down there the whole time....
pomegranate / 3890 posts
No but when I was pushing, I kept peeing and felt so bad for the nurse.... I remember thinking about that a lot when I was pushing lol!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Nope!! I did take an edema (sp?) once my water broke before we left for the hospital.
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
Would I know if I did?! DH says I didn't but I'm not sure if he's just trying to save me from embarrassment.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@lawbee11: I wouldn't have known except there was a mirror set up at my feet so I could see myself pushing. And I doubt anyone would have told me had I not seen!
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
Ahh I don't want to poo myself!! You all are scaring me!
I told DH if he happens to see it happen to never speak of it. I don't want to know!
honeydew / 7283 posts
I don't think so but I'm not going to ask DH. There are things he & I just don't need to talk / think about.
watermelon / 14467 posts
I did twice. I felt it the first time and it felt amazing. I spent my entire labor feeling like I had to poo, so it was a relief.
pomegranate / 3329 posts
Yep, with 2 and 3 but not 1. I thought I was peeing, so I ask and was told no, it was my waters and blood. It happened multiple times, my husband doesn't say a word

@septca: I wonder whether she means pushing stage... I definitely didn't in my eight and a half hour labour, but I only pushed for about twenty minutes. Mind you, I also laboured at home (including on the loo!) for about six of those hours, so might be different in a hospital setting where you are confined to your back. And I threw up the only thing I tried to eat as well, so must have been pretty empty lol.
pomelo / 5720 posts
Yes but not when I was pushing. It actually happened when I was in tradition and starting to really struggle to get through the contractions. I remember saying something about it but I honestly didn't really care because I was so focused on getting through the contractions.
coconut / 8681 posts
Nope! I didn't with either baby. I didn't push for very long (less than 15 min) with both though.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
I'm in the "don't know" camp! I don't think so though, because when I finally went to the restroom after having Xander, I pooped a bunch, so I'm thinking I probably didn't during labor! But who knows!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
I did after getting my epi - everything was numb so I'm assuming my body just "let go" I actually thought I had done it again a bit later and I asked the nurse to check, and I was crowning!
cantaloupe / 6751 posts
@septca: I pushed for only 20 mins but the actual labor lasted for approx 12 hours. I wonder if your friend means pushing time? No poop for me, and I'm 100% certain of it'
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
I don't think I did, I pushed for 2 1/2 hours before my section, so it's possible but DH said I didn't, and I believe him. When I'm nervous my body goes that direction, so I went several times before my epi, I don't think I had anything in go again at that time!
admin / watermelon / 14210 posts
I pooped just before I went into labor with both kids, so no poop on the table!
