Eww, I know! But I did. Blood doesn't gross me out. I saw both placentas of my twins. You could tell which one was the one that was linked to the ruptured sac. I have a picture, too, but I keep that to myself. I didn't get to cut the cord but I was able to see (and touch... weird, I know) the cord and placenta. I didn't save it for placenta encapsulation because I decided it wasn't for me since I had trouble taking pills while I was pregnant.

I didn't either time. I was interested the second time because it was bi-lobal, but I had a c-section and forgot to ask.

Yep! It was pretty amazing! OB asked if I wanted to keep it but I was like no, I'm good.

I didn't think I would want to see it, but when the time came I totally did! It was so cool. That thing gave my daughter life for 9 months

Yup, I specifically asked to see it. The dr showed it to DH and I and gave us a little placenta tutorial. Heh.

I asked to see it and the OB seemed to think it was a bit weird but he obliged
I was curious about it, thankful for it's healthiness, but also worried about retained placenta, bc my mother hemorrhaged due to that after having me.

Yup! I even asked to see it in the birth plan. And since my son was with the nurses in an incubator, it was a good distraction. I looked at it all over, poked at it, and even held it. It was so heavy!

No! It didn't even cross my mind if I should look at it, lol. Maybe next time...

I didn't plan to, but my midwife was really excited to be able to show it to me so I ended up seeing it. I guess it was kind of neat.

Nope, but my doctor commented on it while it was in the bucket. I wanted to see it, but didn't ask to. Wish I did since I was curious! I'll have to ask DH if he did or not!

Yep. I saw it as it was being taken away after I delivered it. I wanted to see it.

No. It took me awhile to deliver my placenta, and when I finally did, it came out in pieces and I was barely conscious because I was hemorrhaging. The doc had to rip me back open after stitching to get the pieces that were remaining.
So, no, I didn't see it!

First time they offered and I was kind of grossed out and declined, then I regretted it because I was so curious. Second time I asked and they showed me all the parts and everything. Gross but cool. Then I had them discard it because I had no interest in keeping it in any form.

I didn't want to with my first two but with my third, the medical staff was blown away at how huge it was
so I looked. DH even took a picture of the WEIGHT of the placenta because it was absurdly heavy! Everyone in the room was fascinated, ugh.

No, but I wanted to see them! My dr had a hard time getting them out because they had sort of melded together, but she did say Blake's (who was the smaller baby) placenta was smaller and "less juicy." I've seen pictures of my friend's placentas from her two babies so I guess that will have to do to quell my placenta curiosity!

Yes! The nurse actually put in a tub and brought it over to us. I had a placental abruption, which is when the placenta peels away from the wall of the uterus before delivery. So, it actually was in chunks (it was so weird). But she brought it over and handled it, flipped it over, showed us where it detached from uterus, etc. I had never seen one before, even though I had already delivered 2 babies.

My midwife went over it with me while she was checking to make sure it was complete. It was really neat to see. I think it's amazing we make an whole organ just for a pregnancy. They said mine was on the small side for a 9 pound baby, but looked really good. I got a print of it, not sure what to do with that.

Yes. I was like WAIT, THAT'S HUGE! And my midwife laughed at me. I guess I made it sound like I'd expected it to be the size of a quarter or something.

I encapsulated, so I asked to be given mine. I didn't see it like splayed out on a counter or anything, but I was handed a plastic bag filled with my placenta inside a plastic bucket full of ice. It just looked like a big piece of meat.

No I didn't see it but the doctor said it was big? Who knows, I didn't even think about wanting to see it. I felt kind of out of it having a c section after hours of labor.

No but I really wanted to see it! I just don't think I thought of it at the time with either birth, but I really wish I'd seen both of them.
DH saw both and has only commented that they are not a thing of beauty, ha! I've told him that with this baby, his one and only job is to remember that I want to see the placenta and make sure that happens because we are done, done, done after this one and this is my last chance to see it.

I only saw it after LO 2. I took a bunch of pictures.
They had to cut through it for LO 3 so I didn't ask to see it. -
I never saw it, but kind of wished I did. I'll be sure to ask for lo2.

I saw it with both babies, but this last one was bigger and it also had a big bubble thing on it. No idea what it was, looked like fluid, and I forgot to ask my OB.

Yep. They examined it just a bit after birth. DH took photos (I asked him to). I had it encapsulated, and my midwife even dried part of the cord into a heart. It's weird now, lol, but when LO was first born, I thought it was really special.
