I recently went to a dermatologist (post forthcoming after my next appt) to discuss my skin. I started breaking out on my chin a couple months ago, and it is extremely rare that I break out. The derm said that it was hormonal, and happens to women in their early 30's and late 30's.
Did you start breaking out in your 30s?

oh my gosh yes! I started breaking out right about 1/2 year after I turned 30! They were/are these like painful, under-the-skin, cystic kind of breakouts that you couldn't pop! It got REALLY bad my 1st trimester, a little more manageable in 2nd tri, and now a lot better. I've been using Mario Bedescu products and found it's really helped control the crazy, painful breakouts.

This makes me sad--I'm 29 and have been on acne meds since high school! I don't think I'll ever get rid of them, but thankfully my skin has behaved pretty well without them during pregnancy.

So far, no breakouts. I'm 32. But I never really had bad breakouts as a teenager, either. I mean, I used to get the occasional zit, but it wasn't on a regular basis. I can't remember the last time I had a real zit. This is because my skin is so very dry. The downside of this skin is that it wrinkles super, super easily.
My mom was always way more wrinkly than my dad (they were the same age), and both of my older sisters aren't fairing well in the aging department, compared to their friends of the same age. I have significantly more eye wrinkles than my dark-skinned husband. But he had some acne problems, so I guess neither of us has ideal skin.
Guess our future LO could either have the best of both worlds, or inherit both of our problems!

Yes. turns out for me it was a mild allergy to seeds that was causing my adult breakouts. I cut out all seeds (not as easy as you might think) and my skin cleared up!

I've been breaking out since I was 9. The only time I've had perfect skin was my pregnancy with Wonder Baby. On the plus side, I have no wrinkles thanks to my oily skin!

My mom had adult onset acne, so yeh, I'm so screwed! She broke out in her 40's!

Only since I've been pregnant - nasty, cystic acne. It's improved really significantly in the last couple weeks, thanks to my (doctor-approved) benzoyl peroxide regimen.

I'm not 30 yet, I'm 24 but I haven't stopped breaking out yet since I started during puberty! Ugh...I have terrible skin and probably always will.

@ms.janedoe: Oh no! It's worse after getting off BC? I have been on the pill almost 10 years now....and I still break out. IDK what I'm going to do if its get worse! Yuck!

I broke out infrequently but sometimes consistently throughout my 20s. My dermatologist said some people just don't outgrow it =/ I finally got a RX cream that has been helping but since we're TTC, I know my days are numbered with it.
@MrsBrewer @MsJaneDoe - I just went off BCP so I'm fearful of how my skin will react now!

@MrsBrewer: @LindsayInNYC: Yep, I always broke out when on the pill, usually a few nasty cystic zits around my chin area. But NOW, after being off the pill, it's seriously just ridiculous. I heard from most people that, "Oh yeah, your skin will be fine, mine was even better off the pill!" Lies. Alllll lies.
Hahaha, but yeah, I'm sure you'll have better luck!

Not there yet but I went from never having any breakouts to looking like a proactiv commercial in my early 20's. It was devastating to me! I got on a topical medication that worked and kept me clear all the time, but stopped using it when I got pregnant. My skin is really nice now (I'm almost 35 weeks) and I hope it stays that way after baby comes!
