I wasn't planning on it, but I have told a few friends. I wish I could keep my mouth shut. Also some close friends have asked (yes, I know, I know) and I have a hard time lying so I end up saying something vague that is probably fairly transparent. Just curious, did you/do you tell people?

Nope, we didn't tell anyone...however, we were TTC right after we got married and got pregnant right away, so people didn't have the chance to ask, and it we didn't really get the chance to tell.

told no one, not even family. i didn't want to hear a zillion questions.... and then it was fun to surprise them!

I've told people that we are going to start TTC for LO #2 soon but I don't give exact time tables. Mostly because I keep moving it back.

My MIL and SIL know, some friends. We usually hint around it if asked.

I think my mistake was before I we got married friends asked if we had a timeline in mind. I told them what it was at the time, and we ended up starting TTC about the time we had initially talked about. I guess everyone has a good memory because they've all been asking!

I told two close friends. It was so hard keeping it from my Mom but so worth it cause she was so surprised when we told her the good news!

No. First it was because I was worried it would take awhile and didn't want the pressure, and then I miscarried so I didn't want to tell anyone anything after that. I didn't even like telling people at 12 weeks.... But I figured I had to do it sometime. Although I'm sure my family knew.... Since I was already pregnant once they knew I wanted a baby.

We hinted around to MIL that we were TTC and she was so excited. Also my sister knew.

No. I don't want anyone to keep asking if I was pregnant yet. It's something special between DH and myself.

We tried for over a year and didn't tell anyone. When we realized we had infertility issues, I told a couple close friends because I needed an outlet for stress. We finally told our families once we decided to proceed with IVF. Mainly because I didn't want to go under anesthesia without our parents knowing in case something happened during the procedure.

We didn't with our first, we told a few with our second, and now that we are NTNP with our third I'm amazed at how loose my tongue is!

I did not tell anyone we were ttc. Only the aunts and uncles have asked about it, and I just smile and walk away when they bring up the question.

We were starting to do some work on our house, and my brother asked me if we were going to wait for the work to be done before trying to have a baby. I told him we would have to go back in time for that to be possible since we were already trying! I think that may have been more than he wanted to know...he's one of only two people who I personally told.

I said close friends but really only my sister knew that we were definitely trying. I had told a handful of people our general timeline so they probably figured but didn't really ask. But when I started calling people to tell them I was pregnant they all knew! (I'm not much of a random phone caller

I've told friends and immediate family. I was so excited when we first started! I don't regret sharing with these people at all. The only person who I kind of wish didn't know is my MIL. She's already commenting on my food choices and talking about baby stuff and I'm not even pregnant.

We didn't tell anyone, though I'm sure people guessed as when we told people we were expecting, they said they weren't surprised... lol.

No, I had a feeling it would take us a while (it did), and I didn't want well-meaning questions to make me sad and cranky.
I even flat out lied to people when they asked (while we were trying) and told them we were wanting to wait 5 more years - we are fairly young and only married for 1.5 years before we started trying, so it was believable.

with #1, people knew we were going off BC, but that was about it. when people asked if we were trying, i'd just say 'we'll see what happens' so yes and no?

No. I really don't want people asking me how it's going and stuff.
When people ask if we're trying I just shrug nonchalantly. Most people take that for a "Meh, I don't know".

we're just ttc now but I spoke with my parents and a couple close friends before about our timeline. I feel like I need to have a few people I can vent to, and the ones I've told aren't the type to put pressure on me but rather to be supportive and listen when I bring it up. I guess we're just really starting so who knows, but in the year that we've been waiting to start no one has ever asked me first, even when they know, they just listen when I bring it up.

I told a few friends when we started ntnp, but that didn't last long. I got pregnant like two seconds after my iud came out, so then I had to work to NOT tell people I was pregnant for a while.

Not only did we not tell anyone, but we'd say it was several years down the road, thinking they'd lay off. Originally, we had planned on 2-3 of marriage before kids but after our one year anniversary, we both really wanted to start our family. We'd achieved our financial goals much more quickly than we thought we'd be able to and the timing felt right.
When we announced, everyone asked if LO was a mistake. And that's how it was phrased, as "a mistake". That really gutted me because I felt like no one thought we were ready but looking back, I think it was just really shocking to everyone since we'd put them off so strongly right after we'd first gotten married. (let's be honest, who really wants to be asked twenty times at every family function about whether or not they're using protection with their spouse?)

I didn't tell anyone for the first year, but after that (when we started going to RE appointments, and I was on a strict fertility diet, etc), I told a few close friends. They didn't understand, but it was nice to have some support.

i didn't tell anyone. i would have told my mom, sister and best friend but got pregnant before i had the chance. they did know that we were thinking about it, though.

I have told one very close friend at work, mostly because having someone else to chat to about it (other than DH, as excited about the whole process as he is, it's not the same as talking to a girlfriend about it) and because we often go out for drinks, most people i causually spend time with I can come up with an excuse for not having a drink. Other than that, no one else, I don't want the pressure of people asking, and my mother breathing down my neck about what I'm doing, eating etc etc.

I'd say it's in between telling close friends and telling everyone. We don't sing it to the world but we also don't pretend that we're not. About the only upside of having fertility difficulties is that everyone knows better than to ask how it's going!
