We didn't even tell anyone we were going to the hospital, so we definitely did not put any updates on social media. I haven't noticed anyone doing this lately but remember some people giving a play by play of the birth. Not my thing, but to each their own!

I did not do a play by play. I did post a picture on instagram of me in my hospital bed at the start of my induction. I was bored and my husband had left to get my bag from home (I hadn't expected to be kept for induction that day) and nothing was happening yet so I had time to kill. I posted on IG rather than FB because IG is mostly my internet friends and FB are people who know me in real life who might have bugged me lol. Next update wasn't until the next day after LO was born.

Nope. But I also didn't mention anything about the pregnancy on social media. We just posted a birth announcement.

Nope! We didn't even tell family about going to the hospital until I was admitted. I had a Facebook friend who updated fb every step of the way with her recent birth and I was thinking about how I could never do that!

No, I didn't post anything until we got his newborn pictures back at a few weeks old. I had texted friends who posted congratulations on my wall though.

Absolutely not!!!! With LO2 no one even knew I was in the hospital until after he was born. We didn't announce on social media until the following day.

No...we posted a "she's here" post after the birth when we were settled - probably 4-5 hours after the actual birth.
I think if I were induced I could see posting a "here we go" type post...but I would worry it would encourage "whats the status" text messages!!!

No! I announced his birth a few days after we got home. It just wasn't a time when I wanted any attention, I was nervous that it would take a long time and it did!

@Mrs D: Once things got going I gave DH my phone so I wouldn't have seen messages anyways. But no one texted me! I think the few people I knew IRL who saw my IG post were smart enough to realize that I'd update when she'd arrived and asking about her wasn't going to help things along lol.

Nope, and I'm pretty sure we didn't put anything online the entire 27 hours. My husband posted she was here LONG before I did. He posted while the nurse was helping me clean up, I didn't until I think we woke up again several hours later. She was born just before 3 in the morning.

I posted a last bump shot (I was in early labor at 40w2d) with DS1. But that was it.
I did not post anything with DS2!

Nope. We gave periodic updates to my BFF and family though. BFF because it's just how we are; and to my family because they're staying with us and I didn't want them at the hospital around me while I labored.

@Mae: I was a texting addict during labor...and all over FB - I could not have surrendered my phone! 
Luckily only BFFs and sisters were texting for updates...which I consider acceptable!

Nope. I had a scheduled induction too and didn't say a peep until after I gave birth! I did keep some close friends/family updated via texts.

@Mrs D: lol I was doing stuff until it started to hurt. But at that point my labor came on pretty fast so I didn't really have a lot of down time.

I didn't have IG until after he was born. I posted something like "We're going to have a McBaby today!" on Facebook when I was sure we were going to have him that day (like 7am, 7cm dilated) but that was it.

No! I had to tell my boss, who told my co-workers that I wouldn't be in because I was in the hospital with the baby on the way. That was fine by me. I announced on FB a few hours after she was born.

Nope. I didn't even know I would be having DS until about a half hour before. I had pree and he came at 35 weeks.

Sort of. The second time around, I had my cellphone during labor for podcast listening. I updated Twitter with some commentary about missing out on grilled sausages on Memorial Day. I texted my parents and my best friend during labor too.

nope! i didn't even get to tell my friends (only family) the first time i was going to the hospital! they just got a text saying that she was born! they were shocked. with DD2, i learned my lesson and texted my friends that my water broke. ha. definitely no time or patience for social media during labor.

I did, but I had a scheduled induction and a lot of family and friends across the country wanting to hear when the twins were born. It was actually much easier than texting a bunch of people. We did text some people but there was a point where DH couldn't remember what he told certain people. With FB, it was there for almost all to read. (I know good and bad.) A lot of my FB friends knew about our IF journey so I think a lot of people were rooting for us.
I also wasn't in a ton of pain so the birth was pretty much sitting around chatting, checking internet and falling asleep. I do realize that I was lucky to have a calm birth experience.

With DS we didn't... Plus I couldnt do anything but focus on my labor (I did a med-free birth). I posted a birth announcement on FB the next day.
We haven't announced this pregnancy on FB for #2. I'll most likely post a birth announcement.

Hell no! I didn't even tell anyone besides my dad and my boss that I was in labor. I didn't need anyone "waiting" on me.

@ms.line: ha--hell no was my thought. My good friends and family knew about my planned c-section, but I didn't want to feel like I needed to check in and reply to texts, calls, FB comments, etc. We wanted to wait to share our news when we knew everyone was in good health.
