A little delayed but only b/c it seems like every time we have to go to the doc to get a shot, LO gets sick and it has to be put off!
@runsyellowlights: will P be able to attend school with no shots??

@CottonCandy: it varies state by state but most allow either religious or philosophical exemptions. Just have to sign an exemption form. Also I think runsyellowlites homeschools??

    honeydew / 7488 posts

With my first we did a modified schedule for the first several months and after that were on schedule. With my second we have done everything according to schedule.

@Mrs.Pen: ahhh I was wondering how that all worked. Thanks

@CottonCandy: Yes. All states have medical/religious/philosophical exemptions, West Virgina & Mississippi being the only ones with neither religious or philosophical. We homeschool anyways so even though private schools aren't subject to accepting non-vax students per our some religious & some philosophical exemption its kind of a non-issue.

Can I just say its really cool how those of us on both sides of the issue are so respectful of each other's choices? This is such a heated topic on so many other boards and groups. HB

we vaccinate fully, but I think our schedule is a bit different here to what you guys have in the US. this is all we do: http://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/preventative-health-wellness/immunisation/new-zealand-immunisation-schedule

I'm not looking forward to the 15 month ones... 3 in one go! poor baby

Fully on time, except for the flu. We'll probably start that next flu season. I talked to a lot of my friends and did research, and after talking to his pediatrician, who I fully trust, it made them most sense to go with the recommended schedule.

Absolutely fully and on time. She didn't get flu shots last year but will this year since she's in daycare now.

It's an issue I feel very strongly about.

All three of my girls are/will be fully and on schedule excluding flu shots...however I think we may all 5 get one this year.

We delayed the Hep B shot at birth but are on time with all others and will catch this one up.

  31. cascademom

Fully and mostly on time with scheduling appts. We did the flu shot since he's in daycare.

  32. swurlygurl

    honeydew / 7091 posts

Delayed the at-birth and 1 month (or was it 2 month?) shots (an option actually given to me by my ped), but will be caught up by 18 months. I'm pretty sure we didn't give DD the flu shot.

@Mrs. Jacks: Do you feel the same way about flu shots?

  33. Mrs. Jacks

    blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts

@swurlygurl: I see kids that were previously normal who come in with flu encephalitis and will never be the same-- a couple times a year. I don't want one of those beautiful kids to be mine. Like a 10 year old girl, standout student and soccer player who can no longer feed herself and functions at a toddler level.

So we do the flu shot every year without fail. It has also been shown to prevent death and hospitalization in grandparents, which is also a worthy goal.

If I had to pick between vaccines for some reason, I'd pick DPT, Prevnar, HiB and MMR before flu, but luckily we don't have to.

    apricot / 457 posts

Fully and on time - definitely

  35. banana

    coconut / 8299 posts

For my son, fully and on time. For my daughter, we delayed MMR because she has a pretty bad egg white allergy and we wanted to get back her allergy test results before moving forward. But once we found out her levels weren't too high, we went forward with the MMR.

I voted fully and on schedule, but I did slightly delay Hep B by 3-4 days (until her first OP appointment). I just didn't want to do it in the hospital because they were already sticking her a lot to check blood glucose and bilirubin.

  37. Mrs. Pen

    blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts

@Penny Lane: wow that is a lot fewer shots in a lifetime. I noticed there is no chicken pox- do kids just get it as a childhood illness? Also- the dtap/HIB/polio/hep b is all one shot?

  38. GrapeCrush

    grapefruit / 4823 posts

Fully and on time for DS and will be for DD

  39. Penny Lane

    nectarine / 2163 posts

@Mrs. Pen: chicken pox is an optional one that parents can choose to do. you also have to pay for that one if you want it! but ya, most kids I know just get chicken pox! and yup the dtap/polio/hiv/hep is one nice little shot right in the thigh!!

it's interesting how much this varies by country!

  40. Mrs. Pen

    blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts

@Penny Lane: I'm kind of jealous of your schedule!! I totally think chicken pox is an unnecessary vax!
